The Splunches are fair mounting up, and Saturday 9th March sees Glasgow play host! This will be a vanilla meet & all are welcome to come along.
The venue.
The Counting House pub in George Square at the corner with St Vincent Street, across the road from La Vita. Afterwards if anyone wishes we may go for a curry in the Merchant City of Glasgow, which is only a short walk from the pub.
Time.
2-6pm.
Travel
Queen Street Station is only a 2 minute walk to the pub. Central Station is just 10 minutes walk away, and both stations have national rail travel across Scotland and further afield. The Counting House is about 15 minutes walk away from Buchanan Bus Station for anyone travelling by coach or bus. For anyone who chooses to fly, both Glasgow and Prestwick Airports are served by most of the airlines. There is a direct train service from Prestwick Airport to Glasgow Central and a bus from Glasgow airport.
For anyone driving, there are plenty of car parks, but be warned, this can be pricey. On street parking is limited, time limited and expensive. Bets options are to park in either the Buchanan Galleries or St Enoch Centre car parks which are close by. Otherwise to use the SPT Park and ride facilities at kelvinbridge, Bridge Street or Shields Road Subway stations. The nearest Subway Station to The Counting House is Buchanan Street and this is only a 5 minute walk.
Accomodation
There is plenty of hotels, from the Marriot, Hilton and Crowne Plaza to the more basic Premier Inn and Travel Lodge. Any questions with regard to location of hotels to the venue, let me know by pm.
Let me know if you are planning on coming. Any questions regarding the Glasgow Splunch I shall answer if I can. If anyone who has organised a Splunch notices I've missed out any important info, please let me know. I look forward to meeting new folks on the 9th March! My apologies for not posting here sooner, a rookie mistake!

Re: Glasgow Splunch
Shame.
About a year too late. Had I still been snakescotland I would have been there for this. In a heartbeat. When I lived in Scotland I was in Perth which is about 40 mins on the train from Glasgow. A short hop. The chance to meet some of you (and O.M.G. Candy too!) for real would have been too hard to resist. My wife knows of my leanings so I wouldn't have had to lie about where I was going. A free agent. The chance to explore the wonders of you all.
However, since I moved 'down under' last year, a trip to Glasgow has become a little harder, involving several plane trips as the following A to B graphic illustrates. Pricey and time-consuming!
I would truly love to join you guys for a pint and a curry after but, until there's an Australia meet, I guess I'm just going to remain an virtual interlocutor.
Until then...

Re: Glasgow Splunch
For anyone coming to the Splunch who may not know who to look for, there will be a map on the table to distinguish us. There will also be a card on the table that everyone will sign. Looking forward to what should be a good day!

It was great meeting new faces and familiar faces, and one familiar but so long since seen it was like a new one. Great meet - enjoyed myself. Thanks to dj for hosting.
