I had the misfortune tonight to have to watch the programme as my other sky box decided to malfunction.

Dont get me wrong i think some of the acts were good BUT i just do not like these type of programmes.

However one thing came to mind immediately upon the Judges voting as to who stayed in the show.

There are 3 judges,Tonight 2 of the judges had their own acts competing against each other so they are obviously going to be biased, so this leaves the final decision to 1 judge. This i feel is totally unfair.

What i would like to see is once the finalists reach the final knockout stages a completely seperate independant panel of judges should ajudicate the final decision as to who leaves the show that week.

Anyone got any views on this?

I think that I'm fortunate to have an 'off' button on my TV. Then I can listen to some decent classical music on CD or radio.

Have watched X Factor when I'm in on a Sat night (not often). Yes, it is based around cruelty in the early stages and then more about the egos of the judges than the talent of the acts. And now, apparently Kate Thornton is getting the boot cos she isn't glam enough.

Sat night TV has become so formulaic - it's X Factor or the dancing version on BBC - that it MAKES you go out. There was a time when you looked forward to Sat night telly - Noel's House Party, Game for a Laugh, variety shows, Parkinson before he became a promotional tool for ITV etc... But now even the most teetotal person is forced to go out and get pissed.

Sat night telly is now only a substitutute for a life. It used to be a great way to warm up before you went out. And sadly slapstick (as we were discussing yonight) in TV terms is def out of fashion.

So, buy some DVDs or join a good site instead. There really is no alternativenow for the true slapstick fan. You'll always find something entertaining here.

I do agree with you though

Well i hope this is the last series because it's getting boring now.

I agree, the results show is very unfair. Sometimes Kate is really pushing the last Judge to decide and often enough they find it very hard to make that choice. When they are forced to make a choice they often regret it afterwords.

It's an unfair set up.

Oh and what a tragic version of the scissor sisters the boy band did, im so shocked they were let off the hook on the results show.

Scrap it!

Neither Hayley nor I saw it last night as we had an emergency call out to the pub to watch a fine band called Dirty Shoes.

As far as I can see the whole 'mentoring' element so some acts become 'Simon's', others 'Sharon's' and so on is totally unfair way of running a talent contest. Clearly you are introducing the element of whether you like the judge to the mix. Also, is it just me or is there a somewhat racist character to the voting this year? All but one of the black acts (the most 'Uncle Tom' of them) has been voted off. This might be coincidence, but I'm not sure.

On the subject of reality shows...I see that Cirque de Celebrite which has Z-list celebs doing circus acts badly has been criticised by Gerry Cottle for 'demeaning circuses!' Now that must be bad!

PS We shall endeavour to abide in future by Forum Standards Watchdog Sotonude's judgments regarding the quality of television and our promotional activities on our own website. We apologise for any upset caused.

      Please don't take me that seriously Bill; the comment about promo activities was meant as a bit of a piss-take but I did mean it about the 'off' button.

Pax?

Don't worry Sotonude, it was taken as a joke. Quite like the idea of a Standards Watchdog for the site. I think we keep the level of self promotion reasonable. We really don't want it to be TOO self indulgent. But we don't mind being told off too much when we are too gratuitou in the plugging department.

And, don't worry, Miss T, an awful lot of people (no, I didn't say a lot of awful people!) love X Factor. Hayley and I quite enjoy the early stages where the auditions are taking place, though we now play "Guess whose gonna be shit" just by looking at them in the queue or walking in. It's only when it becomes more about the judges egos than the acts that we abandon it.

Haven't got into Strictly Come Dancing. Neither of us are exactly ballroom dancers and we both hate Bruce Forsyth! Besides it's called Strictly Come Dancing so it should be strict! Put the losers in the stocks, spank their bottoms and pelt them with pies we say!

Hiya

Are your stocks as big as our ones. Show us yours and we'll show you ours!

Like the idea of making all these reality shows more cruel. A PVC clad domme would certainly liven them up.

Extremely Strictly Come Dancing, anyone?

Or the XXX Factor? (But I bet someone's done that already)

Love

Hi

I am just revelling in the joy of a woman saying "Mine aren't as big as yours!" something that NEVER happens in my comparatively flat-fronted life!

You must know by now that any pics are welcome. Especially parodies of reality shows. Has no-one done The Mess Factor then?
