My oatmeal bath May 4th

Nearly 90 pounds of dry oatmeal mixed with hot tap water yielded just about 40 gallons for my bath. These are just the first few vid caps, many more to follow but I'm running very low on time at the moment. Enjoy!

Out of interest, how did you get rid of the oatmeal afterwards?

I don't know about goodwrench but I always go for the scoop and flush method. Scoop into bucket, flush down loo.

I did used to attempt to throw stuff away wrapped in the plastic from the floor but after once carrying a 57kg bucket (yes, the weight of a slim adult female) down the stairs (80l big trubb trug thingy) and attempting to heft it into the wheelie bin I thought maybe I was a bit mad and adopted scoop and flush.

Some years back I did a tin bath full of porridge set and opted for the 'bucket down the toilet' method of disposal and damn nearly blocked the toilet. Wasn't looking forward to explaining that to the plumber but then there was a loud SLLURRRRRPP! and it went down. Took about 100 trips to empty the lot. It was also pouring with rain that day (so what's new?) and in those days if the drains couldn't take the strain they overflowed into the sea! I was fully expecting to see a huge porridge slick float past on the tide! These days that is no longer true, but my domestic 'outflow' is monitored by some sort of meter so I do wonder what they would make several dozen kilos of porridge!

I live in the country on a couple of wooded acres. I have a shallow hole dug in the woods that I pour any used biodegradable slosh into. This particular mess took six separate 1/2 mile round trips carrying a 5 gallon bucket 2/3's full and was brutal. I scooped the oatmeal into the buckets with a large plastic bowl, which broke under the strain of repeated scoops and cut my hand. I also scraped up my legs on bramble near my disposal hole. I asked Leah from messygirl.com how she disposes and said she waters it down and pours it down the drain. I can not imagine how much time that would take to water down and flush 40 gallons of insanely thick oatmeal! I also have a septic system, not a sewer system so I hardly let anything go down my drain!

Sometimes it looks like it's going to block but I just shove my hand in and help it along - usually two flushes per bucket. My loo has quite a strong flush also so I've never been that worried about it - also those loo unblocker things are good to have around just in case - can't remember the name of them but they are like plungers with super powers.

Goodwrench, feel sorry for you with your disposal story there :O thats dedication!
