Me and Mordicus went to Secret Cinema's performance of Bugsy Malone,
secret cinema do things diffently, they set the showing of the film in a related venue and the audiance is emmersed into a part theater part cinema setting,
for bugsy it was in the hugely impressive troxy in east london, the setting was fat sams speak easy taking its insperation from the film, as you can see from the videos on youtube and the companies own site, its very impresive
sitting at the tables on the main floor garuntees you a full involvment if the infamous pie fight/splurge attack from the film, ponchoes are provided but you dont have to wear them as many didn't.
obviously the main reason for going was the pie fight at the end which was really great, the foam used was really good too,
aside from the obvious messy end it was an epic night out, right from the cue up outside which was inter-mingled with the actors playing the parts of reporters, authentic policemen and the characters from bugsy, the build up to the screaning was fantastic and worth the night out for that alone.

highly recommended night out for everyone!

a word of warning, the tables infront of the stage will be moved away during the pie fight to make room for a larger dancing area, so dont leave bags etc under the table as they might not get seen in the mayhem

food and drinks wise there is a bar, small food menu, popcorn, milkshake/desert bar etc, all within the performance venue so you can have eats too while the production and film is on.

so good we'll be going again in april !!

Yes, that sounds a lot of fun. Watching Dani Harmer (it's ok she's 23 now!!) and some young guy doing the Fat Sam dance routine for Sport Relief reminded me what good songs there are in Bugsy Malone as well, of course, as the 'splurge'. Sounds a great night out.
