Hi all ...

Can anyone tell me the artist and/or title of this song....

The video is fairly new, I think (last 3 years?).

It begins with two boys being dropped off by a mum - to go to school. They're about 12 years old - one black kid and one white.

Instead of going to school, they wind up in some sort of audition or photo shoot where various sexy models dance for them in bikinis.

The boys have such fun, they forget the time - they end up having to run fast to get back to the rendevous where the mum is waiting with the car. She asks them if they've had a good day and they tell her it was all right and they act like it was just another ho-hum day at school (but they give each other a knowing look).

Ring any bells?

The song is a dance track that samples from some well-known classic song (possibly from the 70s or 80s I think).

It was Owner of a Lonely Heart by Max Graham and needless to say it's on You Tube. The original was by Yes.

Am I the only person that hates all these dance artists sampling original work and having hits with it?

The biggest culprit was that song which just took the chorus to Steve Winwood's "Valerie", he added a saucy video of girls in tight leotards and voila....a huge number 1 record.

Zero talent required.

Oh yeah glossy videos of women in aerobics classes practically naked are indeed all you need for a number one hit, that+ a repetitive beat and a sample of a successful older song.

ALternatively show these half naked women in a swimming pool, rolling around or playing with power tools.

Annoying it is.

I beg to differ with you and DD's views on this as much as i'm not a fan of both the Call On Me and the Owner Of A Lovely Heart remake.

As a guy make house beats himself i can tell you that a lot of these guys are v.talent producers and studio engineers but the odd dud track does come out lol.

If anyone can do it and it is so untalented then why don't you go and do it then for a laff and see if it would do well??.

I'm not poping at anyone just hate when ppl dismiss dance or electro music as simple when it aint just cos it don't have giutars or other insutrments no where near it.

It defo aint about snobbery which is something i hate so much with music.

I'm sure some of you have dance to the odd few when you've been drunk LOL.

If you want to review what i said... i didnt say zero talent required. My sis is a house DJ, not famous or anything, and although im mainly into my rock metal and punk, i do enjoy gettin wiped out to the beats, i like my dance too. Been to Homelands, Creamfields.. seen various famous djs, even met judge jules lol.

Dont get me wrong i prefer metal, but im very eclectic and i wasnt speaking out of turn.

However a lot of these songs/tracks wouldnt get to number 1 if it wasnt for their highly sexualised videos and catchy samples.

Even you have to admit that one.

Paul Oakenfold didnt get to the top with videos of half naked aerobics....

I do get pissed off when they sample classics as well and they don't it justice just like you guys but for every iffy dance track there's always a gem just right behind it .

Kool that you do feel your house beats as well as rock - it's just that i'm well passionate about music (even more so than WAM lol) so if anyone has view that i think is wayy of the mark then i will say what i feel when it comes to the music.

You say that most house vids just have sexy girls in next to nutting in them - not all of them are like that and rap video's are more on this tip than most house vids etc.

Sex sells unfortunatley in ANY music genre and you can't stop that right now.

That's also doin a lot of diservice to most of the house tracks that do well commerically as well as a lot of them have had to do well in clubland BEFORE everyone jumps on them (and there's NOT A VIDEO OF A SEXY SCANTILY CLAD GIRL IN SIGHT - just ravers who love the track for what it is - nuttin more and nuttin less).

Saying most tunes wouldn't get to the top of the charts just cos of the catchy sample is just as bad as saying that track would do so well cos it has a catchy gituar riff going through the whole track.

ALL Tracks need a catchy hook or riff to make it do well or your well screwed lol.

I agree with you - there's just too much snobbery in music these days, and too many people with a stick up their ass about what is or isn't cool.

The original ... the sample .. the remix ... sexy video ... clever video .... guitars... hard rock ... throwaway pop ... turn tables ... WHATEVER.

Fuck it - the bottom line is ... does it entertain you and give you enjoyment?

That Max Graham track isn't the original and the video uses attractive, slim girls wearing bikinis to sell the song. So what?

I like this version of the song, and I like the video. I couldn't give a monkeys if 10,000 readers of Q magazine or NME or whatever say it's uncool - if I like it, I like it, and that's all that matters to me.

I was never cool even when I was young enough to be cool. I'm not about to start caring if I'm cool or not now!!
