Yes ImageBam is notorious for pop-ups and pop-unders. I have a blocker set up so all it does is open a blank window in the background. I think Imagevenue is better.

Sometimes Imagebam does have a few issues, but I always use a popup blocker & have never got a virus from there.

Imagevenue has its own problems with thumbnails & uploaders
