Murdoch pie

Anyone else find the immediate media reaction to the attempted pie in the face for Rupert a bit over the top? Thankfully this is not UMD so we won't argue the merits of shaving cream over spray cream!!! It brightened up a very lengthy session however.
Incidentally I think the attacker missed a trick by not targetting the attractive female MP who asked the question just before the act happened!

Have just got in and so far only heard it on the radio. Custard pies really don't work in sound only. Not sure pieing 80-year-old men helps the cause. Rebekah maybe...

You'd think he would have been creative and used holy water, though.

Should she be found guilty of the supposed misdeeds, I think that one pie would be a totally inadequate punishment. A much more substantial public wamming for her would brighten everyone's day... :D

Green slime would have made more sense altogether, considering he answered almost every question with "I don't know"

It was nice to see tiswas and phantom flan flinger trending on twitter earlier

Ah, 'trending on Twitter' now there's a phrase I've only just learned!

As for Rebekah, according to people I know who've worked under her, she deserved sploshing whatever her guilt in the current debacle.

It would have been much more fun to see Louise Mensch MP receive the pie! Rebekah Brookes would have been good as well. It was a wasted opportunity.

I doubt the pie thrower was thinking along the same lines as us! "Go for the big, famous, old guy!" would have been his thinking not "Wow, she'd look great messy!!" Interesting how much of an outcry there was about it. I reckon Murdoch just thought, "Thanks - that takes the heat of me!"

My admiration though is for his wife, Wendy. What a right hook! And no fannying about - wham! - straight in there. Top girl! If there had been a whole table of pies, she'd have taken the lot on singlehanded!

I hate Murdoch with a passion, he is the capitalist elite's propagandist in chief and manipulates the minds of the masses for the benefit of the global rulers.

Rant over

Thanks for that. You are right, of course. Been reading this week's Private Eye and it confirms a lot of things I have suspected/been told over the years about NoW and Sun journalistic practises. And many other papers too. Was never 'hard-nosed' enough to be a newspaper man.

Like most people here I love a good pie in the face situation ... BUT only when the recipient is willing. Otherwise it's assault.

Pieing Murdoch made him a victim, and victims tend to get sympathy. That's not something I feel he should be getting so my view is the action was a mistake. And, what's more, it smears the good name of honest pie throwers everywhere!
