Fashion/Glamour

Marginally off topic possibly, but a general observation and, I suppose tied in with sploshability. I dont know if its just me, but I think that, at present, and from about the beginning of the 2000s, women and girls have never looked better!

I am thinking back throught the various eras from when I first started to, erm notice, the girlies, which in my case would have been the early 70s and I think that fashions come and go, and with them, the general attractiveness. The early to mid 70s werent too clever, but I think a sense of glamour started around the late 70s, I started work in'78 and several of the girls in the office then were very attractive, tight skirts and heels seemed to have come in at about that time, maybe influenced by "Grease" which was big at the cimema at the time. This look seemed to extend into the early 80s, when awful hair, baggy clothes etc ruined it, but the "Dynasty" inspired power dressing with suits and big hair and, again heels, came in, which I liked.

I think the worst era for fashion was the 1990s. Awful shapeless clothes, boring, old fashioned looking flat shoes, or big clumpy ones. This seemed to be swept away in the early 2000s and I think clothes, shoes, make up, and general styling from then on have been fantastic, heels are higher than ever and seemingly more popular than ever, and I love it!

Girls, you look fantastic, keep it up!! :D

I could go on about this for hours, and probably have in the past! But since this box is labelled "Quick Reply", I shall try and be brief.

For me, the 80s have it. I was too young in the early 70s (though I love 'glam') to really get into clothes then. I was partial to a bit of punk later on but it didn't quite catch on in the Isle of Wight where I was at the time! However by the early 80s I was in London, had a job and an excuse to dress up. Power suits, satin blouses, long tight skirts or stretch jeans were my thing, and they still feature amongst my fave clothes for sploshing in.And heels, of course. Heels with everything!! I was also a slave to big hair! I am amazed I have any left considering the chemicals I put in it for the next 15 years! The make-up was big and heavy then too which I liked at that time. Now I have eased off on that a bit!

Yes, today's look is good (though I've never gone down the ironed-straight-hair path). As a high heel wearer (still), there are indeed plenty about and you don't have to pay Jimmy Choo prices for good ones. But perhaps what I like most about the present day is that there isn't just one look. You can choose from all sorts of different styles rather than having to be a punk, new romantic, goth etc. Or perhaps it's just that now I'm older I don't care so much. Certainly I LOVE all sorts of outfits and wear them regardless of whether they are on trend. I do everything from rock chick to business bitch (sometimes on the same day!) and both make great sploshing targets. My other weakness was for military jackets. Bought loads of those on Ebay a year or two back. They are getting to the stage where they too will feature in the sploshing collection soon!

Ooops, already gone on too long! Sorry, this is a bit of a hot topic for me!

Everyone has heir own tastes. I have to say I'm very happy with current fashions compared to the past, but that's just me (and Mr Angry, who sounds rather cheerful in fact).

There's such a wide range of styles to choose from these days. I like the leggings with floral combo this summer and last, skinny shapely jeans, crazy heels, yet there's still room for classic elegance. And it's all great for getting sploshed in. Which is what fashion's all about, eh?
