PSA: Paint

A bit of a public service announcement - not sure if this has been addressed before (I don't really recall a definite answer)...

Having just finished some decorating earlier I had some emulsion left over so I figured I'd see if it's usable for getting messy. The stuff I have seems to be (well, I'm a still a normal colour a couple of hours later).

It's B&Q value Matt Emulsion "for interior ceilings and walls" (not sure what an "external" ceiling would be...). There's a box on the back stating "WATER BASED PAINT PRODUCT" with the usual "avoid contact with skin" warnings but none of the proper warning symbols (eg. "irritant"). I can't imagine it would be good to get in your eyes but it doesn't seem to have had any effects on skin. It only cost about 3 quid for 2.5 litres. This only applies to the white (all I had) - I don't think it comes in many colours.

It washes off skin easily with just water (it hadn't dried mind - it seems to take a while) and washes off the bath just as easily. I doesn't seem to leave much of a smell either - I guess it doesn't have the usual solvents in it. The odd dried spots on the bath came off with easy-to-moderate effort with a sponge/scouring pad (the plastic-y sort you use for the dishes - not the metal ones). It also seems to wash out of clothing as long as it hasn't dried (that one's not guaranteed tho...). By filling the bath with water the paint just dissolved into that and went down the drain as water.

As for it's actual use as a messy product - I guess it's what you'd expect - it's quite thick and very opaque. Fairly slippery but not greasy.

Also, if you're looking to colour another liquid (eg. slime) just mix some paint into it. The water turned completely opaque with only a small amount of paint and it'd wash away easily.

If I've done this properly there should be a poll attached too. The reason being that (as discovered here), personally, getting messy alone seems kind of pointless - it doesn't really do much for me. I do enjoy seeing others getting messy (eg. pics etc) and I'd imagine it'd be even more enjoyable with a partner (as are most things), but it doesn't seem worth it when alone.

Sorry it's a bit long, just figured I'd share in case anyone else has wondered.
