Just seen the trailer for next Monday nights Celebrity Come Dine With Me.
Mad as a hatter Barrymore's been invited & is seen pushing a desert into a female contestants face who seems less than impressed.

Couldn't bring myself to watch it :( , given that collection of z-list "game show presenters from the past" (as Radio Times called them!)....Barrymore, Anthea Redfern, Jenny Powell, Pat Sharp.

To be fair, yes. It was really the other three who put me off!

Did anything interesting happen?

Yes I think she used to be on "No Limits" in the 80s and was quite a fox, as I recall. I really can't be arsed with these sorts of shows, though. LCD TV (Lowest Common Denominator!)

Unfortunately I refuse to watch anything Barrymore is involved with full stop - disgusting excuse for a human being that he is.

Jenny Powell still looks pretty good these days, guess she got "too old" for presenting nowadays or something - I remember her from kids TV I think. Pat Sharpe used to DJ pretty often at the nightclub I live by.

I don't particularly mind the normal Come Dine w/ Me but the "celebrity" version just seems pointless, as do the "celebrity" versions of any show - it's nothing to do with the purpose of the show, just the "celebrities" trying to promote themselves.

I'll second wondering if anything happened tho...

Yes, Barrymore (IMHO) (and like quite a few other actors/comedians, etc.) was by no means without talent as an entertainer, but totally let himself down by his attitudes and behaviour. Seems that there's some people who just can't handle success.

I wasn't a fan of him as an entertainer (never found him funny) but that didn't matter - some people liked him after all. However, what happened at that "party" demonstrated what a piece of crap he is. And the fact that he thinks he can just ignore it and relaunch his "career" just makes it worse.

Jack Tweed (although he had *no* redeeming features in the first place) is much the same.

Amthea Rederm rubs a handful of whipped cream in Barrymores face.He then puts cream on Pat Sharps head.
Then he smears cream in Jenny Powells face.
It looks like Barrymore has had a pie,but Jenny just a bit of cake in the face.
Jenny has been pied/caked before.
On No Limits she was pied at the laurel and hardy club.
She had her face covered in mud on The Generation Game.
She was caked on Ministry of Mayhem
Hope that helps.

I have no problem with Come Dine with Me, thanks largely to the Paul Lamb narration. He's excellent. By chance the one with the ghastly celebrity cleaner (I can't even be bothered to look her name up) was on this Friday, and he was almost as rude about her as I would have been. The Michael Barrymore one was quite fun I thought - though he's done the 'nutter who's actually quite refined' idea before. No idea if he is a murderer or accessory or not, but all the time he hasn't been found guilty he is free to do whatever he likes. Oh, and I thought Ms Powell came over very well (quite down-to-earth and non-show biz).
