For anyone getting this in time, BBC4 tonight at 11.25 is showing part 3 of a series on comedy called "Make 'em Laugh" which is, tonight, looking at slapstick. I dare say it'll be on iPlayer in due course.

Wadda ya mean? "moderately interesting"!

I just came back here to thank you for reminding me

. I had it marked to watch then forgot after the snooker. I love physical comedy; L&H, Stooges, Lucy, etc. Even though I'd seen a lot of it before, even got it in my collection, I can't resist watching whenever its shown. I regard sploshing as a form of the same genre and believe there is little difference between getting hit with a pie or a frying pan so long as the reaction is funny. OK nurse; the medication is taking effect

its time for bed

Well yes but I was meaning from the Splosh point of view. Great for physical comedy but not as good specifically for splosh stuff, of which there were only minor snippets now and again.

If it's the same one I saw a few months back, I loved it. To be honest at the moment I am much more interested in the humour of slapstick than yet another naked woman gunged. But I am talking personally, of course.

Yes, I think I know what you mean. It seems that the vast majority of people engaged in making splosh material these days want to get through the splosh section and into the naked cock-sucking bit, or similar. It's hardly worth doing the splosh bit for those.
I thought it was rather narrowly focussed though. Where, for example, was Harold Lloyd and there was only a passing mention of Fatty Arbuckle. It seemed to skip straight from Chaplin via Larel & Hardy through Jerry Lewis to Jim Carey with virtually no mention of anyone else.

Agree with Bill here, Its always been the simplest slapstick that has apealled to me, Which i have found is the hardest to achieve, I really like it to look realistic but with only one chance of doing it you have to have luck on your side to get the best results, The early film makers got it right more often than not as opposed to modern filmakers who get it wrong so often. To Do this kind of slapstick is so much more expensive than the type of WAM where the stuff is just thrown or poured over a model on a tarpaulin and a lot less popular.

Which might explain why I'm feeling a bit disillusioned with it all at the moment.

I can quite understand why you are Bill. Splosh appear to be the only producers that seem to put the effort in with different scenarios and scripts. Most of the time it is the humour I am buying the Splosh videos for as much as the sexy slapstick. You should, of course, feel superior. But it can't be easy seeing the market that you pioneered becoming swamped with worthless crap. I won't mention any names, but put it this way, Splosh (to include SillyGilly) are the only producers I've only ever bought more than one product from (and by quite a long way!!).

Don't give up the good fight Bill, Your stuff has always been inventive unlike 99% of other producers, Personally i would find shooting more or less the same content over and over again a waste of time but said producers seem to find a niche market of customers who get off on the same thing again and again. Like most things in life the more choice you get, The less choice you get.
