Session with Paint

Hi fellow sploshers,

Had a quick seesion with some emulsion paint this evening. It felt great, but was marred slightly by concerns for health 'n' safety.
Is it safe?
Must admit, I prefer food, but simply had to give it a try.

CO, boy did I ever learn how scary paint can be. A b/f of mine a long time ago found buckets of paint left behind by a previous tenant. When I started dating him he sploshed me with the paint. OMG, I thought I was going to die near the end of the session. It was lead-based paint and I had a terrible headache til end of the following day. (Hayley gave me a TON of shit about this a few weeks ago. What did I know? I was a young, silly female back then.) Since then, I've had NOTHING to do with paint. But isn't emulsion paint what sploshers use for modeling?

If you watered it down well, you should be fine (emulsion is water based anyway). Stronger colours like red and purple tend to need a couple of good long scrubs to get off your skin, but I find blue and white come off first time.

Whatever you go though, don't use the gloss or the matt - you'll find you need a decent amount of paint stripper to get it off properly, and you're unlikely to ever get it out of your hair!

TBO, I think I'll leave it well alone in future. Sooner have a nice jug of custard over my head any day of the week.

I've used matt paint a few times before... no issues... well - none that i can attribute to the paint. tbh - its one of my favourite substances, but you need to aim for the low-odour ones. i can also recommend the silk matt paint, as that has a bit of latex in there, and it makes scratching off the bits you miss after showering much easier.

Are there any sort of health risks with wamming? ive heard motor oil is bad too, but ive used that as well... that just needs a crap load of fairly liquid to get off....

Used motor oil is very bad for you - it's carcinogenic, not sure about unused.

Doesn't paint stick to the bath/shower? I would guess poster-paint would be OK as it's designed to wash off kids.

Some paint can stick to the bath enamel if you don't wash it off quickly. You could always use a cheap inflatable paddling pool if you're not sure of the effect it will have on the bath/shower tray.
