Hello all,

You may remember me from the documentary I produced for my final piece for my degree early last year, loads have people have watched it and it has been receiving a lot of attention which is awesome! Thank you to everybody that has watched it - and to those that haven't please do! You can now find it in the Free House on Channel Free. (Thank you Bill)

Bill posted a topic earlier about "This Morning" and their need for a "splosh" couple to come on the show and have a chat with Phil and Holly with regards to "This Morning's" sex feature which will be running over the course of a couple of weeks and aims to explore a variety of sexual flavours. Having used my documentary as a point of reference, the lovely girl from the news team also contacted me for a chat and I wish desperately that I could go on with Bill and discuss how I discovered getting messy but they don't want me they want a male/female couple.

I have thus been issued my very first researching task and funnily enough it has bought me back to the wonderful world of Splosh! (which by the way I had by no means forgotten) and i would herby like to ask once again whether there is anyone that would like to come and talk on the "This Morning" sofa.

Some very important things to remember!

This morning is a family show and for this reason no one will be expected to talk about sexual preferences or desires. Instead, in the light of "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" Sploshing has once again been bought into the forefront of the medias attention and naturally this interview is intended to evaporate the prejudices that are to be had against what might be seen as those not in the know as "a weird fetish" and to inform viewers of what sploshing is all about. This would be a good opportunity to banish the assumption that it is all about sex.

So... if you have got this far...

We are looking for a couple who get messy or a couple where one person likes to get messy or alternatively... A couple who aren't romantically involved but perhaps instead are good friends that splosh together.

Why do we do ourselves a disservice by continually pretending there is no (or very little) sexual element here? At the end of the day, Sploshing / WAM is a fetish (although I seem to recall Bill disagrees!) - the generic definition of which (a fetish, that is) is the derivation of sexual pleasure from inanimate objects. I think the above is stating the obvious. What I guess Holly meant is that a lot of TV people want to talk about sploshing purely in terms of foody sex play (nobs and nips covered in cream etc) rather than the joy of abandonment and other elements of it.

My definition of fetish comes from another source and says it is something 'essential for sexual fulfillment' which I think most people would agree sploshing isn't. It's just something that adds to it. I am aware definitions vary, so anyone claiming to have a definitive definition is obviously kidding themselves.

My views on couples etc not taking part in a non-judgmental show like this is mixed and I will share it with you all some time.

Nobody here has ever pretended that there is little or no sexual side to sploshing. It is purely a question of how that sexual side is portrayed.

I tend to use sarcasm as humor quite a lot. So let me be serious for a moment and clarify my position on the subject of sploshing. I do not believe that all people equate sploshing with sex. I do. I simply get VERY turned on by it. But I do believe there are many people out there who just enjoy it for the silliness, or the violation of rules of recognized standards of daily conduct in society, or to return to childhood playtime, or any of a number of reasons besides sex. And even those of us who do it always to have sex, also do it for some of the same non-sexual reasons. Part of the turn on is knowing I'm doing something that is considered very "wrong" by mainstream society, a society which is a major part of my daily very conservative work environment. For example, hubby and I had the best non-wam sex that I can recall we've had in years during our recent trip to Vegas, in large part because I was able to be a bit of a slut in public without any concerns that someone might see me from where I work or from our neighborhood and the norm of the city is such that no one looks oddly at a female showing a fair amount of skin in public. That had nothing to do with my love of sploshing, but with my love of living a little on the edge, which I can't do very well elsewhere on a daily basis except in the privacy of my home.

It's a little difficult to conduct a poll of people to find out the consensus of sexual vs. non-sexual wam participants (again, my sarcastic side is showing a little), but if one were taken, I would have to vote on the side of I always do it to have sex, either alone, or more recently, with my husband. But I do agree with Bill there are those who do not require sploshing to include sex. I just have no idea (nor, I'm sure, does anyone else) which is the majority view on sploshing.

Firstly, I don't equate sexuality directly with penetrative sex (I'm using it in a much broader context), in that I assume that a lot of Sploshers do indeed find it relatively straightforward to disassociate Splosh play from physical, penetrative sex. I don't think, however, that there is an effective way of presenting a non-sexualised take on Sploshing to a relatively 'family friendly' environment without making ourselves look a bit silly - which might also be why no-one else wants to take up the cudgel for TV, and why we've often been parodied (because its so easy!). Can't say I've ever watched much daytime TV, but even Bill's quote above is an immediate admission of the sexuality inherent in Sploshing. There's a fine line for TV, I suppose - but I see Sploshing like any other fetish - BDSM, for example, is ultimately all about the 'mindfuck', or 'subspace' (even if the vast majority of those who just 'test the waters' aren't aware of such terms), and can't be convincingly portrayed without a fuller rationalisation than would (I assume!) be allowed in any daytime TV show.

Messy fun turns me on. It's first and foremost a sex thing for me. I wouldn't have ever gotten into it if it was any other way. I love comedy, but I feel that slapstick comedy is one of the lower rungs of the ladder. Seeing someone get pied or fall in a swimming pool makes me laugh about as much as seeing Charlie Chaplin kick another man's ass. Or someone carrying a plank of wood turning around and whacking someone on the head.

The only people involved in WAM (that I've met face to face) who don't do it for sexual reasons have been models ... who often say "I don't mind it. It's a laugh and everything, but it doesn't get me turned on"

Bill - I've heard that definition too. I've read that a kink is something which adds to your sex fun, but a fetish is something which is essential for you to ever feel horny. So I guess WAM is a kink for me - not a fetish.

Since the item on This Morning is within a daily feature forming part of their Sex Week, then the item is pretty obviously going to be about sex to some extent. I have never hidden this at any time. Nor have I ever said that sploshing isn't sexual - of course it is - this wouldn't be an adult site if it wasn't (so why driversoft regards this as an 'admission' on my part I have no idea).

I have spoken many times to the researcher on the show and their item is meant to be a non-judgmental piece following on from Secret Diary - not a piss-take. Obviously it is going to be discussed in a light hearted way - similar to the Sunday Mirror magazine piece - but Jeremy Kyle or Eurotrash it isn't. So if people are turning down the opportunity to appear on those grounds I think they are mistaken. However I don't think that is the reason.

I am disappointed that people do not feel they can take part in the show. I have spent nearly 21 years trying to make people feel okay about liking all elements of sploshing but clearly have failed to make anyone comfortable enough about discussing it on a mainstream show. For a while I got rather depressed at this failure on my part but I am slowly beginning to realise that it is a big step from feeling comfortable about liking something to being prepared to discuss it on network TV. Hopefully we have got some way towards achieving the first if not the second.

As for whether we should appear on programmes like this at all, then subject to the show's agenda (ie not a deliberate pisstake like Eurotrash which we turned down along with several other similar shows), then I think we should. This is not to 'court publicity' but to try and bring the subject sufficiently out in the open that people don't feel bad about themselves if they enjoy it. It's not about Splosh! the product it's about sploshing. Only if subjects like this are discussed openly will people be able to mention it to lovers/partners etc, rather than hiding their desires as many do now. The more it's hidden, the weirder it appears. Yes, we could keep our heads below the parapet and settle instead for running a website, but in my view sploshing should be seen as the harmless sexy fun that it is, not something that one needs to feel guilty about.

I quite agree. Having seen far too much daytime TV (and This Morning) I wouldn't think the piece would be negative in any way - lightweight yes, negative no.

I guess it's all part of the pervading "sex/guilt" thing we seem to have as a society - no-one wants to talk about sex publicly full stop so talking about kinks is going to be even harder - a belief that society in general needs to get away from - it's not like there's anything "wrong" with sex as an activity as long as everyone knows what they're getting involved with.

As for why there's a lack of people willing to go on the show: the requirement that a couple is needed drastically reduces the number of people available I would think - most people on here appear to be either single or keeping sploshing to themselves anyway (I could be wrong). Coupled with the fact that just because we are "open minded", society (and employers) are not - something people can forget in an environment such as this.

Being (very) single I can't offer my "services" and, to be honest, I have no real idea why sploshing is a turn on so wouldn't be able to say much anyway. I'm in the same boat re. comedy - I don't find slapstick amusing. Perhaps I'll start a thread on what people find appealing about sploshing, might be interesting.

It's unfortunate as something on this sort of show would do a world of good for people's impressions of sploshing as people already know about some of the "minor" stuff (whipped cream, chocolate body paint etc) - showing people that it can be fun/silly would be a good thing - after all, sex is meant to be *fun* - something the media these days seems to forget.

From what I've always understood there's a scale from kink, to fetish to paraphilia. (eg. kink: kissing a partner's feet, fetish: foot worship, paraphilia: stealing shoes). Kink/fetish are interchangeable tho.

Well, I think a lot of people would be uncomfortable discussing elements of their sex lives on live TV, no matter how 'normal' it's perceived. Lot's would be uncomfortable discussing ANY aspect of their private lives on TV, sexual or not (those that appear on the likes of Jeremy Kyle obviously not included here )

I'm at a point where I have no problem discussing my love of sploshing with my friends (and quite a few of them have told me it's something they've tried, or wanted to). However, I wouldn't discuss it with someone I'm not as close with, such as a work colleague, purely because I don't like discussing any aspects of my private life with them. It's just my nature to be quite a private (and also shy) person.

Don't feel yourself a failure Bill, without your site and all the others, many would not have felt comfortable discussing it with friends or significant others, which is what is really important, since otherwise a lot of people would have ended up repressing their feelings.

It's a noble concept, Bill, but I think it's going to require more time. Just look at the struggles the gay, lesbian and transgender community has gone through in getting accepted into mainstream society despite it being a topic regularly addressed in everyday media for several years now. Hell, there was even a multiple Emmy-award winning situation comedy in the States for years based on the subject matter, "Will and Grace." The time is approaching for them to become integrated into mainstream society, but it's still going to take awhile.

Anything outside of the perceived sexual norm makes it difficult for those participants to feel safe "coming out." Homosexuality has been out there for far many more years, and they still have a ways to go. The interest shown by people in sploshing, whether for sexual reasons or otherwise, is just too recent to have established enough traction yet to be accepted. Yes, there have been little pockets of exposure demonstrating people's interest in sploshing/wamming, and the recent coverage of the topic generated by the Diary of a Call Girl series is a good start, but only that. And for those, like myself, who work in a very conservative environment, it's still next to impossible to acknowledge my interest.

Shit, it's still taken me nearly a couple of decades since I first discovered you and Rob Blaine on the internet to actually accept the fact that I'm not completely nuts in my desire to participate in this form of fetish.
