Splosh! in The Sun on Monday?

Postby BillShipton » 09 Aug 2009, 12:50

Hi all

Just had a phone call from Katie Green (of Lembit Opik fame) to say that The Sun has got wind of her appearances at Gilly's Silly House and on Splosh! Downloadsand may be running a story about it with pictures tomorrow. She is not embarrassed by this in the slightest BUT I would like to make it clear to all our customers and models that we DID NOT have anything to do with the story. We have NOT spoken to The Sun, NOR given consent for any pictures to be used, and certainly not received any payment for it. If anyone else has, then Katie and I hope you are very happy, you bastard.

First of all I thought it was a short notice invitation, for all of us, to St. Leonards to enjoy the burst of good weather . . .

. . . and then I clicked the thread . . .

 :( :|

To be honest I am surprised it has taken this long for The Sun, or any tabloid for that matter, to find out, since the original thread went up here and on the UMD too . It's been nearly two weeks .

Still, it's a shame but inevitable, people will always try to make a quick buck out of something . . . !
I am sure it was worth the £300 or maybe there is a spy in the camp ?

Most of all I am sorry to hear this. Is it really in the public interest ?

Who ate all the pies ? What a waste of pie !

Having worked for the press this has all the hallmarks of an internal tip off.

When I saw the relationship developing I avoided posting any links on here for that very reason.

Its not a big enough deal for the tabloid press pack to troll through websites like Splosh in the hope of finding such a story but if someone has time to do all the research on their bahalf who is after a quick buck and provide them with pics etc..then they will listen and rub their hands together with glee.

The press obviuosly do make a search on models like Georgina Baillie after the Andrew Sachs answerphone scandal and trolled up lots of pics of her in her dance troup the Satanic Sluts. This one though has to be internal as Katie is much more well known now as a "Bra" model in mainstream and the storm in a "D cup" over Wonderbra trying to make her lose weight.

Its a bit of a sad day if/when someone within the group has taken such action.

Hope it all pans out ok for Katie, Splosh and Lembit :?

Hi

Two things, if that is the best story they have then fine... As you say, bit dull and a waste of space, but we shall see tomorrow.

Secondly, Katie is totally cool about it and been excellent to deal with. If I have panicked over nothing then all will be well! However, she, like me, imagines they must use at least one messy pic otherwise it doesn't make sense.

Anyway, see you all tomorrow, maybe from my new hiding place...

Yes, one small messy pic - and they not the spanking one (are they mad?). Still without permission or payment though.

Bill, I would certainly invoice the Sun for the use of the photograph in the paper and website. It doesn't take legal action to do this - its a very clear breach of copyright (if you took it). They do it because they know that they'll get away with it 90% of the time and save ALOT of money by trying their luck..Don't let them fob you off with 'we didn't know' / a journo provided it / its a promotional photo - all the usual excuses they give!

Hmm the public eye in the UK. You can't of ever done anything if you enter the public view. Tabloids will do anything to stick a knife in. In this instance though i feel it will only do some good. She is a model and was modelling!?! Wam is seen as harmless fun. It wasn't exactly hardcore or scat or dogging!!!
As for Lembit i feel will make him the envy of a lot of people!!! If he isn't already Lol I'd vote for him now :D
The problem in this country is the supposed world we all live in doesn't really exist. Are Mp's not human? are they not red blooded??
Whilst i don't condone the expenses scandal I ask anyone who has had access to any form of expenses if they have never made a few quid!!!
Maybe he will put splosh downloads on his LOL.
Public eye = live by the sword die by the sword
Still as said would be a shame if it was mole from on here
But recession is recession.

Defo try the picture copyright road!! may stop them using it or others in the future.

I hope it won't put off other super fit bra models getting messy!!!!!!!!

Actually, I think we can all blame 'Jim'. Look at the comments on this article from 2 August: http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/42 ... el-21.html

Well would you expect owt else from The Sun? Think you should def go for payment Bill, after all its your photo and been used without any kind of authority. Wonder if Noise from GungeGirls got any sort of payment when they had couple pics of Aislyne being gunged.

I'll bet you struggle to get anything out of them though.

I have had papers use photos that I have taken before (not wam ones), and when challenged they trot out all kinds of garbage about it was given by a third party, we didn't know etc etc.

Unless you are willing to pursue a legal route to enforce payment, you will struggle. And their legal coffers will be much bigger than yours.

It is worth a letter of complaint though.
