Something occurred to me about ponds/mud WAM

Postby grungyartist » 24 Aug 2009, 03:31

There's not a lot of WAM out there involving stagnant, muddy ponds that have algae and moss growing in them. I must say the idea of a model sliding into the mud as well as water that's equally as slimy and dirty would be quite attractive. Is this due to health reasons or is it just ? I can't imagine there being much more bacteria in stagnant water. But I believe the only shoot I've ever seen that was even close to this was an old one on Most WAM shot in a forest. But even then it wasn't exactly what I'm thinking of.

Silly me, I just overlooked a shoot by WSM Productions just a few weeks ago. But still! There's not a lot out there like that.

We actualy had big plans for some wetlook shoots using ponds / rivers etc, it hadn`t occured to me to involve water or mud like that. Have an ideal pond here as well. Would there be much demand for this if we did a shoot ?

Stagnant and reedy ponds are all very well for a nice messy appearance but it must be pointed out that some Algae can be decidedly unhealthy occassionly bordering on the dangerous to the persons health.
Several times when Cede and myself have been doing shoots algae has been present in either the mud or still water and she has come out next day in quite a severe rash. Also Most Councils throughout the country post warning notices regarding algae in the water during the summer months in ponds/lakes people tend to swim in,personally i would not wish any of the girls i use to get a mouthful of it.

As regards rivers, even slow flowing ones i would regard them as reasonably safe as the water is moving, basically i think its letting common sense prevail and your own comfort levels.

Must admit though we have been to several ponds where the water was lovely and clear until we both waded in to do the pics and the pong that came up from the rotting vegetation at the bottom was worse than a pig farm

Ahhh...
We'll we have both here, altho I mustn`t say to much to the wetlook crowd as it was suposed to be a suprise.

Our pond is likely to be very muddy and stagnent with rotting vegetation etc, but do have a nice clear river for them to clean off in afterwards....

ooohhh... the cat is out of the bag now !
