Bill Back in Viz!

Postby Hayley » 07 Jul 2009, 12:32

One of the very few perks of my job is a free subscription to Viz - a leftover from my mag distribution days - so even in Spain I got my copy early. Happy to see they are still portraying Bill as the owner of a sex shop (Shipton's Dildo Mart) in this strip about Bono. What's more the drawings of him are getting more and more accurate! Click it to see it full size.

Before the lovely people at Dennis publishing sue for using their material without permission, can I say that only half the strip is shown here so to see the hilarious ending buy Viz 187 (Aug) priced £3 (three bloody quid???!!!) available at some good newsagents very soon. It's worth it for a very funny cartoon about Bagpuss alone.

They've got him spot on! Ha ha ha ha!

I remember when Viz was a quid!! And what amazing value it was. Hours of laughs for a quid.

I met 2 of the Viz guys once and I'm the proud owner of a sketch of Buster Gonads (and his unfeasibly large testicles).

My early faves were Rude Kid, Norbert Colon, and Finbarr Saunders. Two of those are drawn by Simon Thorpe whose artwork I love (mad-looking people with wild hair!). The one above looks like a Graham Drury but I maybe wrong. Now I like the Drunken Bakers and Fru T Bunn, plus, of course the Fat Slags. In fact, even now there's very little I don't like and buy it almost every time - even at £3.

As I have said before it was a conversation with the Viz guys that helped me launch Splosh! magazine, so I am more than happy to let them rip the piss out of me!

Ah, the likeness doesn't extend to my knees - which are, of course, gorgeous.
