WAM Documentary!!!

Postby Curiousholly » 01 Jan 2009, 17:33

Hello there and a very Happy new year to you all!

Some may already know me from another site but to those that don't I will introduce myself!

My name is Holly and I'm a 20 year old student from the south east. I'm new to WAM but have been learning about it for the last week or so and have chatted to some lovely people and have been given a very warm welcome and lots of support!

My reasons for this posting are that I am actively looking for willing contributors for a 15 minute documentary I am producing and directing for my Major - "my major" being a very large piece of coursework contributing a rather large slice of my final grade for my degree. The course I am studying is television production.

The reason I have chosen wam as the subject (as we may do abbbbssoooolllluutley anything we desire be it doc/drama/game show etc) is that I absolutely love the fun of it. the bright colours the cheekiness and the naughty aspect aswell! Also because I want to create something which is fun to make but at the same time fun and truthful to watch. I am NOT looking to make a porny representation of wam but instead a fun portrayal which shows wam as an exciting past time.

Im planning to structure the doc as a fun investigation into the world of wam, through the eyes of a wam virgin (myself.) with some discussions about how wam fits into your life and ultimatley some messy experiments but as I said above I want to keep it fun!

So.... incidentally the reason I am posting this message here is that I would be really grateful if anyone interested in contributing in anyway towards the documentary could get in touch!

NB - although approached professionally, the documentary is not for television broadcast, all contributors may have a copy if they wish of the final piece! Filming dates are 22nd to 26th January - excitingly soon!!

All the best to everyone
and wishing you all luck for the coming year

Holly

I already know the answer, but I figure'd I'll hold out a small amount of hope. Are you in the SE of England or the US? If it's the US I'll be happy to provide my thoughts.

Hi

I have had a very nice e-mail from Holly since her trip saying she will stay in touch (I hope she will) and let us know how the doc progresses. Apparently it won't be edited till March (none of my 'fling it together in an afternoon' for her!) and she has promised me a copy (though for copyright reasons we may not be able to upload it). She has also said she might be able to give us some screen grabs from it in the meantime. At the moment she is at her parents recovering from her week of organising everything, filming, travelling etc.

I echo Richard's sentiments and wish her every success.

I have at last been able to view this film. Apart from portraying me as a sad old pervert (the truth always hurts!) I thought it was quite good.

Despite being assured that I would be able to see the finished product I heard nothing until I spoke to Jonny at a Bristol Meet and heard that it had been completed. After waiting for a few more months I emailed Holly and finally got access to the website so that I could view the result.

Whilst I wish Holly and her colleagues every success in the future I feel that her communication skills could be improved. :)

hellloo!

I do apologise Richard for my poor communication skills! Unfortunately a lot of uni work got in my way of things, moving out etc! No excuse at all I know. I'm glad you enjoyed the doc but hope u don't feel you were really portrayed as a "sad old pervert" (your choice of words of course) I merely placed you at the beginning of the doc for the initial "what is this fetish" factor. You are a lovely man and it was great to come and chat with you. i definitely do not think u are a sad old pervert!

Holly, please don't think I was criticising your film in any way; I was just a bit miffed at not being informed earlier that it was available. Of course I'm a sad old pervert! "the truth hurts" . Didn't realise you were shocked by the images in the DVD in my telly (uni students weren't shocked by softcore porn in my day!) I also understand what its like when you are embroiled in leaving uni, finding work, finding somewhere to live, etc. Been there; done that!

Anyway, its good to hear from you again and I hope you have a successful career (that goes for James & Kirsten as well),

Pax?

Rich.

p.s. I wish I'd been able to take part in the messy section :( .

I hope we all eventually get to see the film. Is it youtube-friendly, Holly?

It was made for a college degree not public consumption and too long for Youtube. So I would imagine not. PS I have seen it too and not unhappy with it at all.

Hello All,

Richard, I wasn't at all shocked by your films! i needed to suggest something of that nature to lend to the narrative and initial shock factor of the doc... which as you know later dissolved into the fun nature of sploshing and what it stands for. I have had many a student view the film and all commented on what lovely contributors i managed to find, how comfortable and confident everyone was that contributed and how much fun it must have been to film! - which it most certainly was! It has also been viewed by my parents and some of my mothers friends... alot of whom expressed how fun they thought it looked and how they too would like to have a go at sploshing... one of which has even suggested it to her husband!!!

Now I don't mean to be using any of the above in any kind of evidential manner but this surely suggests that any concerns any one may have about the way they have been portrayed should not be concerns as very few people that have seen it have had negative reactions. One must however remind that we are all aware that a small percentage of people may find it a bit shocking or out of the ordinary, however most that have watched the doc that haven't quite agreed with the subject have still commented on how fun it looked. I tried very hard not to allow the documentary to be lead by shock factor and purposely used myself in it to show how fun it is!

Bill I am therefore very sorry that you are not happy with the final out come, both Johnny and Sophie enjoyed it. I have no interest in twisting anyones story or personalities, i would never wish this to be something to upset sploshers, instead i hoped it would be something that everyone could love and enjoy. Bill... Every one that has watched it has commented on what a "legend" you are which is no word of a lie. The documentary is not meant as a serious in-depth analysis on the world of sploshing.. it is instead a non sploshers journey to the discovery and enjoyment of sploshing and yes I would definitely do it again. I feel a little hurt that anyone could find offense to this doc when i so enjoyed working with you all and am so very proud of what i consider to be a very good outcome, an outcome to which many have commented how fair neutral fun and enjoyable it has been to watch.

I would again like to stress that a television maker - yes i am - but by no means am I a television maker that aims to belittle or ridicule people AT ALL. That is simply not my style. "A Trifle Messy has been produced to introduce people to sploshing but also to encourage people to want to have a go, which i can very confidently confirm that it has.

Holly
