Hi. I usually buy 4 500g bags of marshmallows at my local supermarket to melt in the microwave.
CAUTION!!! IT GETS VERY HOT!!!!
I melt them one bag at the time on the highest setting (900W) in a microwaveproof container.
Keep your eyes on the process, when they start to expand take them out and test with your finger to see if they're
molten enough. If not, run them for a little while longer.
Now you're ready for the fun part. Test on a small area first, to realize how hot they really get.
You have to use the amount you've melted before it gets to cool. When cooled down on your body, it will stick to itself like glue.
It can be a little painful when you for example try to get your arm free from the side of your body. I sometimes get small bruises.
Clean up is fairly easy, just take a warm shower/bath.

Have fun!

Gooey marshmallow fluff is also available in jars, sort of like a very very sticky frosting. No risk of burns that way and I have never managed to stick an arm down (less powerful body parts is another story!) Should be in with the baking supplies at the grocery store, Eden.
Common brands is "Jet Puff".

I think you need to investigate this whilst you are still in North America as I'm sure it'll be much harder to get hold of back over in Blighty ;)

Try Selfridges. I have bought marshmallow fluff from the store in the Bull Ring in Birmingham. They also sell Hersheys chocolate syrup in the plastic bottles.

Another thing worth mentioning is that marshmallow fluff cleans up much, much more easily than just melted marshmallows, since the former seems to just dissolve in hot water while the latter doesn't. Fluff might have the best ratio of biggest, stickiest mess vs. cleanup time.
