I know there's quite a few internet boffins on this forum. Can someone tell me what this is ...

83.13.231.249

Is it a computer's address or signature code or something?

Can I use it to find out more about a particular computer's location or URL?

Cheers for any info

It's an IP address, used to identify a particular computer on the internet - although often many PCs can hide behind a single IP...

You can do a few things - the most useful is 'reverse DNS lookup' - convert it back into a web-style address. If you try this web page http://remote.12dt.com/ you can enter the IP and get the name.

It's a PC in Poland by the look of it.
