Hi again,
I was wondering who are the mud lovers amongst us? 8) I find its the most sexy/erotic substance to get messed up with. There's something about that earthy smell! Must be instinct from the good old cave man days   .
What do you wonderful messy people think?? Any tales to tell??

Muddywildfire :D

Who else has tried potholing/caving/speleology?
I expect that we have all seen TV pictures of huge cave systems with all sorts of weird stalactites and stalagmites, (How to tell the difference - the 'mites' go up and the 'tites' come down  ).
Anyway, it aint like that mostly. My first trip was to a small cave system in Derbyshire, near Monyash, I think, where one had to crawl on one's belly through liquid mud, trying to keep the nose above the surface as much as possible. Often it was necessary to squeeze through narrow gaps in the rock only wide enough for the slimmest.
Nowadays a wetsuit is de rigeur for such expeditions (wimps!) but we just wore ordinary old clothes in those days. And, boy - did they get heavy!

That was my initiation to the world of mud and I have enjoyed it many times since.

Yep!!! That was me too, I started caving soon after I left school. I was introduced to it by a work colleague, who over the following four or five years took down many of the hundreds of caves on the Mendip Hills (in Somerset). 'Rod's Pot' was the first cave I went into, and it had been raining heavily for a few days prior to our descent. Needless to say it was very muddy and slippery but great fun. We only wore a boiler suit over our underwear for caving at the time, so we got absolutely soaked and covered in liquid mud. What a tremendous feeling that was being covered in lovely slimy mud.

So that was also my initiation into mud, and I've enjoyed muddy fun ever since. I'm not as slim as I used to be, so caving/potholing is out of the question now, but I can still enjoy the muddy banks of rivers etc: :D

I have no problem with mud - though deep and cold isn't my thing. And frankly caving scares the shit out of me! I know a girl who spends every weekend down a hole getting cold in a wet boiler suit. She loves it. Give me getting messy in a wet catsuit any day!

Love
Hayley

Mudder here. Completely love it, although I tend to go out in ski-pants and a jacket to do it. I was lucky enough to live rurally as a kid, and near some great places to go mudding. For a few years, the girl next door to me was a bigger ski-suit mudder than I was. I'll never forget the day she overruled my idea of just splashing around a deep mud puddle on our bikes by smiling, laying on her stomach, and just crawling right in to get totally engulfed.

She moved away with her mom thanks to an ultra-nasty divorce and never came back, so dear Mr. Neighbor - Thanks, jackass!

And if by some insane freak of fate you're reading this Jade, we have to meet up for a wallow.
