Apologies for reposting this from a certain forum elsewhere on the web, but I thoght people miht be interested in the idea.... if a little disturbed, perhaps.
Y'see.... when I was a small boy, I tended to react to messy scenes on television with a sense of horror. A Freudian would explain this as my having had a sexual reacton to what I'd seen, but that my psyche had translated the pleasure into horror as it didn't know how to cope with sexual arousal at that age.... and that's probably got some legitimatcy to it as an explanation.
However, I recall having the same sort of reaction when I saw a pretty television presenter, whom I was acustomed to watching on television, experience the "Zig-Zag Lady" illusion.
What I'd like to see is somebody incorporate wamming/sploshing into this illusion or to the related "Mismade Girl" illusion. Eg a pie in the face of the girl in the Zigzag box, or maybe the mismade girl has slime poured in the top box (containing her feet) which trickles down over her head (in the box lower down).
Maybe this is a bit fringe even for this fetish, and perhaps the costs and setup involved wouldnt be practical from the view of producers, but still....
(incidentally, you could argue that the reason I reacted to the Zigzag Lady in that way was because I'd had a sexual reaction to women getting dismembered. Let me assure you that that *really* doesnt appeal at all. Otherwise I'd be off watching horror porn, rather than shrinking in squeamishness!)

Re: That's magic!
I recall seeing a spoof on the disapearing lady trick years ago (I don't remember which program, maybe tiswas) where just to prove the lady had disapeared buckets of gunge were poured in the top of the cabinet with the inevitable happening and the lady being gunged.
Re: That's magic!
Yeah its Tiswas you're thinking of mate. Sally James in a nice black evening dress. Clip of it is somewhere on wambank
Re: That's magic!
A version of this gag was also done by Clive Webb (who did it on Tiswas) on How Dare You! with Floella Benjamin as the lucky recipient..
Much more importantly a much messier version is done in WSM's Mucky Kind of Magic available on DVD from us.
Robert Harbin invented the Zig-Zag Woman illusion. I can remember seeing cabinets for sale in The Stage newspaper for £500.

Always want to play the part of the assistant in a similar sketch.
You could do a slightly cheaper version (and not ruin a very expensive prop) by simplifying the tricks. The magician makes pies appear from thin air and "presents" them to his glamourous assistant. A bucket is shown empty and then through the power of magic is filled with gunge again and again with different colours. All done with the cunning use of camera trickery.

The cabinet in Mucky Kind of Magic was a wardrobe as I recall!

Re: That's magic!
Bill, whenever you mention one of the WSM films, I go and dig out the video or DVD and have another look at it. Although I've seen them all many times there is always some detail that I've forgotten; same with the Buff Films, so it certainly pays to keep hold of the vintage stuff.

Bottoms Up!

Or buy it again on DVD...he said desperately.

No, but I did see the Amazing Crisco do his blue magic act. He levitated inflatable dolls and pulled dildos out of hats (no, I said hats...).
Must go. Clare Balding wants to interview me in the winners' enclosure. Then off to the pub to console the real betting fraternity!
