Warrington meet-up, Saturday 18th April, 2pm approx.

Dear all,

It's that time again when those of us 'oop north' attempt to get together for a pint and a chat about all things Sploshy. Muckypup mentioned in the London meetup thread the other day that the next meeting up here is scheduled for the afternoon of Sat. 18th April and this is the first chance I've had to sort out a post about it. (You may recall that I quickly had to remove all traces of myself a couple of months ago due to a security breach when this alter ego was accidentally 'leaked' at work! - Fortunately, it looks as though I got away with that so I'm in the process of restoring all files and links etc.)

I hope we can get this one up and running. Pup has kindly volunteered to help out with keeping things ticking along as my activities are still unpredictable due to sudden work commitments. I look forward to meeting many of you again.

----------------------------

DATE & TIME
Saturday 18th April 2009, 2pm approx.
(By holding it on a Saturday afternoon, the hope is that people will be able to travel there and back within the day, saving on hotel bills. Also, by holding it in the afternoon, the pub shouldn't be as packed out as the evening and people won't need to wander round the streets in the dark.)

VENUE
The Blue Bell
27 Horsemarket St
Warrington
WA1 1TS
Food is only served up to 16:45. Anyone wanting food after that might need to nip to the Barley Mow a few seconds away.

IDENTIFICATION:
Could I suggest that a convenient way of identification without attracting attention is to carry a map, perhaps an Ordnance Survey map? (Perhaps you have one of your home area? You should - they're wonderful, as well as being useful for identifying suitable WAM locations!)

TRAVEL:
The 3 maps below show the approaches and detail. As you can see, the reason we've settled on Warrington is because it's very easy to get to, being almost enclosed by motorways and railways.

DRIVING:
On hand are the M6 (Birmingham - Scotland), the M62 (Liverpool - Manchester - Leeds - Hull) and the M56 (N. Wales - Manchester) so it's only 25 mins from Liverpool, Manchester and North Wales. For a full route map, put your postcode and that of the destination (WA1 1TS) in the route planner here (scroll down a bit on that page to get to the planner).

TRAINS & BUSES:
Easily available are the West Coast Main Line (London - Birmingham - Preston - Carlisle - Glasgow) calling at Warrington Bank Quay station (½ mile) and there's the Trans-Pennine route (Liverpool - Manchester - Leeds - York) calling at Warrington Central station (100 yards). The bus station is just round the corner too. (See below for a useful link to all bus & train timetables.)

FLIGHTS:
Liverpool Airport is just visible on the bottom left hand edge of the wider map (below) and there are so many cheap flights (it's an EasyJet hub) and easy transport connections to it these days that those travelling a distance might find it simpler to fly in! (Terribly environmentally unfriendly, mind.)

PUBLIC TRANSPORT INFO:
For those needing to find land-based public transport links, this excellent site enables you to put in your postcode (if you're in the same region) and that of your destination (WA1 1TS) and it gives you all the alternatives, even including walking time to bus stops with street by street walking directions and super-detailed maps if you click the relevant buttons!

BEHAVIOUR etc:
Although the last thing we want are 'rules', following much 'discussion' on another thread about a different meetup, could I suggest that we all think carefully about how we might scare away nervous wammers if we're not careful. (This is a fetish, after all.) Those who are confident about the way they are may not appreciate that they may scare people away from coming along to say hello. Could I suggest that we should treat everyone with respect and try not to draw attention to ourselves. We're in a provincial town-centre pub on a Saturday afternoon, not Soho on a Saturday night. I'd suggest dressing normally rather than 'flamboyantly' (e.g. best to leave the cross-dressing and rubber gear at home! LoL.), using people's real names rather than using their fetish name, and talking quietly when discussing any fetish issues which could cause embarrassment. Remember that people who work with any member of our group might be in the same pub and not everyone wants their fetishes broadcast!

AUTO e-MAIL REMINDER:
To get an automatic reminder each time this meeting becomes due, delivered by e-mail, see here.

-----------------

So who's up for a meet then? Just a chin wag and a drink for people to get to know each other - no actual wamming, of course. (The purpose of these meetings is to enable those who might want to do so to arrange that separately if they wish. Otherwise it's just a friendly afternoon in the pub with people of similar interests - what more could you want?!)

To get an e-mail reminder of this meeting in future, you could join the Area No 2 (North-west) UK Regional WAM Group.

Regards,
C_W.

Sadly, like last year, you have picked the weekend that coincides with my Dad's birthday (87 this year) not to mention my paren't's diamond wedding anniversary three days later. Otherwise I would have gone up - if only to buy Muckypup a drink for all his efforts on ou behalf.

I have been quiet and would of came to a meet. So far have had the London one, and now a northern one. Shame this one falls on the weekend of my birthday, and the location that i am going for my Birthday is London. Irony at its best!

What sort of an excuse is that? ;)

Pretty sure I'll make it, hope to see you all there!

Seems to be unfortunate timing for a number but let's hope others can make it. I've already had a reply from a contact on IC who came last time. She's hoping they will be there again.

I'm actually down to work that Saturday but will try and come along if I can organise a shift swap.

Good show!

Muckpup- apologies if I just PM'd you via UMD. It's just that the thread there seems to have been removed for reasons I'm not clear about, possibly as it pointed people to this one in an attempt to save splitting the responses between two boards.

Therefore, I searched for anyone with a north-west UK location (very hit and miss ... and time consuming!) and have PM'd them all, pointing them in this direction (about 200) and I think you may have been in there too. (You know how it is when you go into 'autopilot'!) If nothing else, it may cause a surge in north-west members joining on here, which is all to the good.

(I've PM'd Liberator to see if he can work out what happened before I try to put it back on there.)

Can anyone recommend any other boards where we should also publicise this event?

Regards,
C_W
