Cool Whip vs Dream Topping question

Does anybody know from experience how close Dream Topping (available in the UK) is to Cool Whip (NOT available in the UK) in terms of texture and general "performance"? Several recipe sites are telling me DT is a good substitute for CW but I don't think they have the same things as me in mind.

I think dream topping is quite messy. You need an electric whisk to make it up from the powder and milk. When it is whisked well it is really thick and gungy. I have never come across Cool Whip though.

It is nothing like it. At all. I used to get cool whip via an American lady friend in the UK with the U.S airforce to "ahem" play with, i also spend time in the U.S and have experimented and shot a few videos with Cool Whip. Wish i could post the video/pics...

Also tried to recreate it in the UK with shop bought stuff including dream topping and have concluded it's not really possible. You have to look for a slightly different but equally messy effect. http://bound2Bmessy.com do a great job, but good luck getting that closely guarded secret out of MissT...
