I've not received anything really nasty, so I'm quite disappointed! Perhaps we should coin the term 'phooding' for hacking Sploshers....

I have just had this problem with Yahoo as well, and have also changed my password.
I had a whole bunch of IMs from people saying I'd sent them a link to some pics which didn't work! I had done no such thing. I was in the car all day that day!
Sorry if you got one, but I think I have IMed all the recipiants already.

Right, let me clear this up a little.
Ive found out more about this, it's coming from yahoo messenger. If someone sends you a pm with a link - something like geocitys.com/view_mypics do NOT click on it. There are no pics there at all. Infact it's not even coming from the person you think has sent it.
No one is being targeted in the wam community, it's happening all over yahoo messenger.
So what should we all do?
Run a virus test asap - AVG is free if you have not got one.
Get a Firewall - I use sygate firewall, im not sure if it is free or not.
Change all your passwords, as many as you can think of. ( You should be doing this at least once a month anyway. )
Run adware or something like that.
It wont hurt to do a disk derangement at the end of all this either.
Hope this helps
J

I got hit too but mine came from DD. Clicked on link and boom two days later I get a notice my password was changed.
Lucikly for me, I was able to get yahoo to change it again and I now have full control of the Yahoo ID.
Also nothing showed up on AV, spybot or ad-aware So i'm hoping i'm cool

Yep I got some from DD too! I was very dissapointed that it wasnt actually he personal web pics
Think its just a page which gets you to type in your username and password, but instead of logging in to yahoo the gits will just intercept them and use them for themselves. I think as long as you get in there and change your password asap (if you are stupid enough to type them in

) you should be ok.

Being blonde, I typed mine in! However have changed my password since then and apart from that initial batch of people who received faux emails from me, nothing has happened since (touch wood).

To anyone who got it from me.... I got it from Jonny!
It's some sort of Yahoo messenger transmitted disease... what James has said pretty much explains it.
To all you who thought you were getting pics of me, i am sorry. I'll post a little treat later on.

I doubt any one individual is responsible. Once these things kick off they are almost impossible to trace.
It hasn't eaten my hard disk or tapped into my tiny bank account so that's all that matters, and I hope that's true for all you guys too
