Me too. I've always wondered what would happen to the wam community if UMD ever bit the big one, and I mean full-on, total 404, /dev/null technical extinction. I mean, there's no-where else to go to get all you need to know or find, comparatively speaking. Don't get me wrong, Splosh is great, but as a community, we've still got a LOT of our eggs in one basket, you know?

Maybe it's time for someone to capitalize on that.

UMD has been running so slowly for days and days so i's not surprising if it has finally crashed. No doubt it will come bouncing back again before the same thing happens again

We have never tried to be UMD here cos it already exists. However if there are things you think we could usefully duplicate in case one of us goes down then we welcome hearing them.

err... we'd make do without it. UMD has some convenience value - but that's about it

Just as the graveyards are full of the bones of 'indispensable people' so cyberspace is littered with the remains of 'indispensable websites'.
