Advice for first Adult Photo Shoot (Off topic, sorry)

Postby MessyGuyNC » 15 Apr 2008, 17:03

I got an enticing phone-call lastnight from an old high school friend of mine. A couple guy friends of hers are looking to sell bondage rope and equipment on the internet. They are looking for a few male volunteer models to demonstrate the merchandise. Knowing I've always wanted to be tied-up / dominated she called me to see if I was interested.

Its all kinda murky as to exactly what they plan to do and what they need of me, but hopefully that will be cleared up over the next few days.... I plan on driving down to see them and do a shot sometime next week.

What do I need to know, do, consider leading up to my trip? Any advice would be appreciated it  I figured there are atleast a handful of people here who could / would be willin to help out.

Find out excactly what they want you to do, also who get copyright to the pics????

Are you going to appear on the internet??? are you happy with that, strange as it sounds I have had models on the phone in tears over the subject.

Are you ok, with other people knowing you have done it???

Are you receving any payment for it???? do you have to sign any forms??? giving the rights over to the producer for a fee...

regards

As Andy says anonymity and rights are the main ones.

Remeber, pictures/video can turn up almost anywhere so don't commit to it unless you are perfectly happy with the idea of being seen doing this by almost anyone.

Well..... I'd rather my family and some friends not know about this. And towards that goal, I was told I could ware a mask or headgear to conceal my face.... hopefully that will go along way to keeping my anonymity.

I do know the eventual goal is this to go to the internet, and so long as my face is concealed I am ok with this.

I know I get a copy of the pictures, not sure who keeps the rights though. How is that usually handled?

Who 'normally' retains the rights? Should I be wary if they aren't paying me and I'm not paying them? (I'm fine not getting paid mind you.... the pleasure of the experience will be enough for me, for now.......)

I do have lots of people who do it and dont recieve payment, they do it because they enjoy it, though they know what they are getting into, and dont mind appearing on the net.

Another example a friend of mine, was at work and took a ribbing for appearing on a silly youtube (wasn't one mine though.)

As long as you are completley clear on what you are getting involved with, have a good time.

regards

Andy

Sounds like money for old rope to me...

And as for being recognised - if anyone asks whether its you (these things can always be a bind), just tell them you're a frayed knot...
It wasn't that long ago that I'd punch someone in the face when they pissed me off; now I just delete them from Facebook - that'll show the mother-fuckers...

And if you were supposed to be somewhere else during the shoot, you were 'just tied up with something else for a while'.

As an occasional unpaid wam volunteer model (well mostly just a prop!) sign any contract after reading and understanding it and find out if you get pics for yourself and how and if you are allowed to share them. I eventually said 'screw it' about my face appearing, but that took 3-plus years to get that far. So far I can explain everything as a stupid food fight at a party or similar if the pics get away from me. Pretty PG rated. Bondage is probably tougher to explain.

trying out the bondage gear

I would just be adamant that you know what they are going to do to you regardless of the 'what happens to the pics'.

If you have any injuries etc or say diabetes that needs to be taken into consideration before you agree to being tied up. Make sure they 'cinch' the knots correctly to alleviate any circulation problems and that they regularly check to make sure you aren't having any circulation problems or pain.

Enjoy

By convention, unless something is signed to the contrary, all rights remain with the photographer/videographer. You may have to sign a release to agree to their distribution which should give you an idea of where they are going but beware of the person who asks you to sign it 'before we start to save time'. Like TV companies!!

Otherwise enjoy yourself.
