A Question for the Older Sploshers

Hayley and Bill, Splosh! was the first magazine to realize that girls covered in various liquids was sexy. And I commend you two for it!
But I'm wondering, what about before that time? How hard was it for guys to confess their fetish to their wives/girlfriends? Or did most of them just not tell them? Were they content to just secretly collect photos of girls getting wet, or muddy, or pied?

I think before we opened the subject up a bit it was certainly a lot harder to discuss sploshing. As far as I am aware initially there was Wet Shots and then Aquantics who only had a couple of hundred customers between them (they didn't advertise much) and collected their pictures. Of course there were couples who practised sploshing before we came along (nice to hear from them) but if they did they kept very quiet about it. I am sure there were plenty of lone sploshers too.

Anyon still alive old enough to remember those days??

Before Splosh I use to buy the top shelf dept, ie Razzle, Fiesta etc and hope their might be some messy stuff in. Louise was up for getting messy. Though we are talking 1 can of whipped cream, no where near the carry on's that we do now. I once read an item on wsm in a mag and my eyes popped out.

Then unfort for Bill one day I was in a shop and saw a copy of splosh, twas no 18, then everything changed!!!!!

I guess I go back to the Aquantic days and remember hearing a rumour that someone was going to start up a messy mag.

I was lucky enough to buy issue 1 shortly after it came out - and it changed my life - honest.
I finally had proof that I was not alone in my fantasies.

I too go back to the Aquantics days, and Roger Carpenter. I can remember hoping that Razzle or Fiesta would have more messy sets than they ever used to have - and seeing the first tentative advertisement for the forthcoming Splosh magazine - I think in the small ads of one of the aforementioned mags.

Whilst I can't say the launch of "Splosh" magazine exactly changed my life, it did make me realise I wasn't as alone as I thought in my tastes, and things definitely looked up on the messy front from then on. I never suffered from a great lack of confidence - I used to be a street theatre 'Mummer' and reenact costumed plays around the highways and byways of the UK - but it was nice to know there were more of us "WAMmers to be" than I thought.

I was a Wet Shots customer and still have most of the early brochures and a lot of the 35mm transparencies. Fortunately I scanned them all before my slide scanner packed up and they are now safely on the computer (fingers crossed).
I do however have certain reservations about the efficiency of the producers (no names, no pack drill!); the first brochures were free but I was asked to send £5 for them to continue, fair enough, I sent the £5 and the brochures promptly stopped coming!
When I got the internet I found the WSM website and applied for membership; was asked for £25 and duly sent it. Result - no membership!!!!
Still. I forgive them because they fuelled my early passion for wet & messiness and I probably wouldn't be here but for those pioneers (pie-neers? :) ).

Pie-on-ears?

I'm not even supposed to be in this thread - I'll get my coat.

I remember when Splosh mag first came out, where I was living though I could risk someone opening the envelope so had to wait until I moved. Issue 5 was my first one and I couldn't believe they used real food, it was ketchup over a black dress if I remember correctly, long time ago.

Up until that point all I could remember seeing is the odd bit of squirty cream on a nipple very tame stuff.

Bill and Haidee (see, I remembered  ) opened up the world of Wam for me, and still do. I still prefer the Splosh, Chantelle, Gilly & Decadant Doll stuff
Since the internet others have come along in the same vein as Splosh to keep the tradition going, tnmmc, Leonmoomin and the Wamdrogeny crew, we love you all.
And some came, saw and disappeared, anyone remember Messy Toni?

So Bill and Hayley, don't stop doing what you do so well, the next beer is on me :D

Thanks for your thoughts.
I was attracted to girls getting wet with their clothes on ever since I was a kid. Mud and food came a bit later.
At first, I thought I was the only one. Then I looked at an issue of Forum, a magazine that published letters from people talking about their sex fantasies. One was a letter from a girl whose husband was attracted both to WAM and to her feet (my other fetish!), and how she indulged him in it. That convinced me I wasn't the only one!

As one of the original gang of 8(or however many attended the first Aquantics/Tenby event), i think that weekend made me aware that i wasn't alone in enjoying this activity. In fact my first ever private messy session followed that year at a seedy hotel in Liverpool with the great Mike Ellison of WAM fame and the delightful Debbie(no not Mc Gee!!).
I remember my first "turn ons" were as a very young teenager watching "Laugh in" on BBC2, I think, and waiting in anticipation for Judy Carne to get soaked with a bucket of water; occasional "Crackerjack" sketches when a few pies found their way on the female presenters; looking for photos in local papers of girls in the stocks at fetes ; and the even rarer occasion when a pantomime sketch featured a girl on the receiving end.
I didn't realise there was such material available until the Tenby experience many years later and these days we are "deluged" with stuff. Amazing to think how many people of previous generations were unable to be fulfilled, living in pre internet times.

From first getting turned on seeing Sally James gunged on Tiswas (1980-ish) to 1995, I was convinced I was the only person on the planet who found Sploshing appealing. Being asexual, I never had any interest in 'adult' mags, so never heard of Aquantics, etc. I did once rent a video called "Wet Dreams" from the adult section of the local video rental shop (remember them?) - but it turned out to be an incredibly low-budget load of rubbish about someone who liked to watch couples making out in parks while he wanked under a poncho!

Then in 1995 I went on line, met Rob Blaine, and the entire universe changed.

However, if you look through the 'Vintage Wetlook Site' there are quite a few photosets from the 1940s and 50s, so there obviously were people doing at least wet fantasy back then, though I don't know how much of a commercial scene there was for it.

I had been interested in all things messy for quite a while in fact way before I met Frilly. Used to love the early bits of mud and mess in Fiesta and discovered Splosh early on along with the likes of Aquantics.

As with DungeonMasterOne things really took off in the mid nineties with the internet. I searched for mudlarking on Alta Vista and there were links to people like Bill and Hayley, Rob Blaine, Ron and Messy Chris, Shokolada, Dave Lodoski and web sites such as Messy Fun, Splosh and Wam Fox. It was great to chat to others with the same interests as well on some of the early WAM mailing lists.

They were very heady days indeed. :D
