.
Coming soon to a town near you!! :-) (I mentioned this one to everyone at the Leeds Splunch a couple of months ago. I can't believe it's a year since we met in Warrington!)

Sorry I've not been around much, recently - too much work going on!

----------------------------

DATE & TIME
Saturday 20th Oct. 2007, 2pm approx.
(By holding it on a Saturday afternoon, the hope is that people will be able to travel there and back within the day, saving on hotel bills. Also, by holding it in the afternoon, the pub shouldn't be as packed out as the evening and people won't need to wander round the streets in the dark.)

VENUE
The Blue Bell(*)
27 Horsemarket St
Warrington
WA1 1TS
(*)NB: Not where we met last year but round the corner. Thanks to Slapstick Slosh for checking out suitable venues. Apparently the food is better in this one but only serves up to 16:45. Anyone wanting food after that might need to nip to the Barley Mow a few seconds away.

IDENTIFICATION:
Could I suggest that a convenient way of identification without attracting attention is to carry a map, perhaps an Ordnance Survey map? (Perhaps you have one of your home area? You should - they're wonderful, as well as being useful for identifying suitable WAM locations!)

TRAVEL:
The 3 maps below show the approaches and detail. I don't know the Blue Bell so I'm relying on Multimap to have put the red circle around the right part of Horsemarket Street but it can't be far wrong! As you can see, the reason we've settled on Warrington is because it's very easy to get to, being almost enclosed by motorways and railways.

DRIVING:
On hand are the M6 (Birmingham - Scotland), the M62 (Liverpool - Manchester - Leeds - Hull) and the M56 (N. Wales - Manchester) so it's only 25 mins from Liverpool, Manchester and North Wales. For a full route map, put your postcode and that of the destination (WA1 1TS) in the route planner here (bottom RHS).

TRAINS & BUSES:
Easily available are the West Coast Main Line (London - Birmingham - Preston - Carlisle - Glasgow) calling at Warrington Bank Quay station (½ mile) and there's the Trans-Pennine route (Liverpool - Manchester - Leeds - York) calling at Warrington Central station (100 yards). The bus station appears to be just round the corner too. (See below for a useful link to all bus & train timetables.)

FLIGHTS:
Liverpool Airport is just visible on the bottom left hand edge of the wider map (below) and there are so many cheap flights (it's an EasyJet hub) and easy transport connections to it these days that those travelling a distance might find it simpler to fly in! (Terribly environmentally unfriendly, mind.)

PUBLIC TRANSPORT INFO:
For those needing to find land-based public transport links, this excellent site enables you to put in your postcode (if you're in the same region) and that of your destination (WA1 1TS) and it gives you all the alternatives, even including walking time to bus stops with street by street walking directions and super-detailed maps if you click the relevant buttons!

BEHAVIOUR etc:
Although the last thing we want are 'rules', following much 'discussion' on another thread about a different meetup, could I suggest that we all think carefully about how we might scare away nervous wammers if we're not careful. (This is a fetish, after all.) Those who are confident about the way they are may not appreciate that they may scare people away from coming along to say hello. Could I suggest that we should treat everyone with respect and try not to draw attention to ourselves. We're in a provincial town-centre pub on a Saturday afternoon, not Soho on a Saturday night. I'd suggest dressing normally rather than 'flamboyantly' (e.g. best to leave the cross-dressing and rubber gear at home! LoL.), using people's real names rather than using their fetish name, and talking quietly when discussing any fetish issues which could cause embarrassment. Remember that people who work with any member of our group might be in the same pub and not everyone wants their fetishes broadcast!

AUTO e-MAIL REMINDER:
To get an automatic reminder each time this meeting becomes due, delivered by e-mail, see here.

-----------------

So who's up for a meet then? Just a chin wag and a drink for people to get to know each other - no actual wamming, of course. (The purpose of these meetings is to enable those who might want to do so to arrange that separately if they wish. Otherwise it's just a friendly afternoon in the pub with people of similar interests - what more could you want?!)

To get an e-mail reminder of this meeting in future, you could join the Area No 2 (North-west) UK Regional WAM Group.

Regards,
C_W.

Damn! The wrong weekend for me, I'm afraid.

On the 20th Hayley and I have been invited to the 90th birthday party of Victory Seyforth - a music hall impressionist we know who has worked with all the greats including Max Miller. He is holding a party in Bexhill and doing "probably for the last time" his full music hall act (including his impressions of Maurice Chevalier and the Hunchback of Notre Dame). It is being MC-ed by Roy Hudd.

Since my love of old comedy acts is NEARLY as great as my love of sploshing I have to go - and he has personally invited us. The next day, incidentally, is my birthday - so have a drink for me!

Really sorry...I have some great boots to show off and all!

Bill

Oh what a shame but that's life (with or without Esther Rantzen?). I do hope someone will be recording his performance! There aren't many of the old music hall acts left so it would be a shame to miss the chance.

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

I am afraid I am away that weekend, we are having a big family get together. I checked the dates to day, thats why I was so long in replying to this thread. I wanted to be sure before I said ya or ney.

Hope you all have a good time.

regards

Andy

Well it's less than a week to go now. Line-up between here and UMD so far:

Claymore_Wam,
RedDevilStu,
Sploshman
ILovePie (possibly)
Jonny? (not sure from his posts)
James (if he can arrange something about work).

Those who attended Warrington last time all had great fun chatting the afternoon away. Who else is coming this time?

(Awaits deafening silence! )

Thanks Bill.

Sorry to hear that you can't now make it Stu. However, hopefully the rest of us will still have a fun time chatting and maybe you can join us next time.

Any more for any more this afternoon?

C_W
