Well, there's a lot of stuff out there.
For me the best is a simple, easy-to-use cereal called Ready Brek. Simply add hot water to start the mix, then add cold water to get the consistency required.
The 'gruel' will be whatever you wish: sludgy slurry, creamy goo or thick and tacky.
This 'gruel' will take mixing with food colouring so any of the rainbow hues can be used to show-up over whatever outfit is getting the treatment.
Good Sploshing.

My girl and I very much liked using honey, yoghurt, milkshake, custard and whipped cream (we decided to use only sweet things for the first big mess).
And we hope to use vegeatble, soup, eggs, chocolate and beer (?!? her request!!) in the future.
The more she sees of the Splosh forum, the more ideas she keeps coming up with for messy games she wants to play, and clothes she wants to wear for messy fun.

I rather like rice pudding, gravy also has it's merits and I was recently introduced to batter, which was fun.
