Feeling glue

Postby TottyMcGee » 18 Apr 2007, 20:02

If you're feeling blue
Or just wearing blue
Coat yourself with glue
You know you want to
(Toodle-oodle-oo)

I've had this great big bottle of PVA school glue sitting around in my room since someone suggested it to me as a messy dare way back when. While having a clear-out these past couple of days, I decided it was time to finally use it up, along with a few red and blue sparkly things to add to the Blue Peter vibe.

Just to boast about how damn hardcore we are here at Wamdrogony, this glue is completely undoctored, ie no soap mixed in to ease cleanup. Actually I only remembered about that right after I'd started pouring the glue down my front, at which point it was a little late, still it made for a far more interesting experience if also a more nightmarish cleanup afterwards.

Thanks all! :)

I've uploaded the video of this, set to the Velvet Underground's "I'm Sticking With You", to our youtube channel at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0vjZrB2JI4 .

I've also updated the Wamdrogony main site with a full set of pics.

Yes, that song was made for it.

Very brave, Miss Helen, Hayley has only had one PVA experience and put it on her 'never again' list which is a shame cos it looks good.

Now...do we have to take you to one side and explain the reverse order of photo posting business again?

Hiya Miss Helen

At my school if you spilt the glue you had to play with dry things after that and were branded "can't be trusted with paint/glue/clay etc". You'd be sooo banned from art class for that.

Hope you enjoyed the glue experience. I had no problem removing it when I tried but I came out in a weird orange rash over my forehead! Had to put about three layers of foundation on to hide it so I looked like a klingon.Yet, weirdly, I still want to try it again!

It was an interesting experience, not something I plan on doing often but I'm glad I've done it and ticked it off my "to-do" list. It felt really gooey with a unique weight, but I wasn't able to spread it about or massage it in without sticking to things. It took me about an hour in the shower afterwards and a bottle of shower gel to get clean and I was still feeling sticky in certain places for a few days after. My costume surprisingly cleaned out fine, though the wig I wore is now like something you'd stick on a lego man.

Hayley - eek about the orange rash! But at least it wasn't a polyvinyl allergy that'd stop you from wearing all that lovely PVC.
I've actually gotten off pretty lightly over the years as far as telltale injurys/stains go, the worst I've had is smelling like sour milk for a couple of days after a session involving several litres of that substance and a day in bed with lurgy caught from horrors lurking in the mud on the Humber Estuary.
I do however understand our last session with Angel Mandy up here revealed the alternative application of tinned strawberries as an effective semi-permant red hair dye.

used a lot of pvc glue when doing railway modelling secenics which usually resorted at the end of it having completely covered hands and arms (and often smears over face! We used to end up making pvc glue gloves and see who could peal off the longest strips.

As you say a small amount of a washing up liquid helps break the tension up ...

Once it dries it just "rubs off or wash hand in warm water and it generally disintergrates with a little rubbing on thicker bits ..

Can see why the wigis a bit of a write off tho!
