Gelli Baff, my first encounter, and probably my last!

Having seen mention on this forum of Gelli Baff ™ I thought it was something that might appeal to me, so I went ahead and bought some. I had been quite surprised at the lack of comment on it, and also the lack of reports about its use (or abuse!!)

Although I have an understanding and tolerant partner, I thought right from the outset, that she would not be interested in playing with the goo, so I took the opportunity to experiment, whilst she was out.

I filled the bath with about twice the indicated amount of water, and poured in two sachets of the mixture. At this point I was quite disappointed with the thickness of the goop, and so poured in a third. This got the ball rolling and I suddenly had a bath filled with a very think mixture of odd coloured goo.

At this point, I decided there was one thing missing. Ah yes me! So In I got.

I should say at this point, I had read on the internet about how Jelly Bath (the original, but less fun product) was sold to serious adult punters, to reduce water heat loss, and thus extend the comfortable bathing window., so I had been careful about the temperature I had set the water.

The second disappointment of the day was the consistency of the goop. It was grainy and very “unsticky”. Not really sexually exciting at all!

I played in it, I rolled in it. I filled my clothes with it. I played with myself in it! Ok, so messy is not really my thing, I prefer just wet, but I thought I might have liked it. It didn’t work for me.

With reference to the comments about temperature, it had started to cool, and I was starting to feel uncomfortable. I ran the hot tap, and reached for the dissolving sachets.

Now at this point I would love to use one of my favourite comments.. It did exactly what it said on the tin. Word of warning here folks IT DIDN’T!

I added more water, and mixed it up, but it totally failed to all turn back to harmless water! A lot of it stayed as gloopy as it had been. The watery stuff still had the beady constancy. I had to get out of the bath and into the shower, and spend some considerable time showering to rid myself, and my clothing of the little beads of stuff, even then I had to put my clothes through a washing cycle to cleans them of the stuff. (I have yet to see if that has been completely successful!)

The bath was another story, The stuff seemed to be liquid enough to risk letting it down the drain, but I then spent ages trying to clean the bath of its grainy residue.

Maybe I now know why I haven’t seen any rave reviews for this product. Maybe I just got it all wrong!

If anyone has not tried this, and is not put off by my rantings, I still have 1 packet left , of the four I bought, and they can have it for the cost of the postage!!!

To be honest- it wasn't going to be wonder gloop to bath in for however much it costs.

Its a treat for kids at the end of the day, a novelty item - but a useful tool to break the ice so to speak

Our batch of Gelli Baff should arrive today and we will be giving it a thorough trial somehow or other.

Apparently the makers plan to relaunch it under another name (Splosh has even been suggested) as an adult product for mutual bathing, so we can only give it a go and include some pictures.

I am sorry you found it disappointing, but we don't want to comment until we try it ourselves.

I'm not sure about this stuff, I've heard of it, I'm sure messymand and messymature where getting some. It sounds like a poor version of natrasol, I could be wrong and wait the outcome from Bill and Hayley.

A very large box of it hs just arrived courtesy of the manufacturers!

Does it give the chemical formula for Gelli Baff on the carton? Quite by accident whilst researching a completely different subject I found an entry for Natrosol in Martindale's Extra Pharmacopoeia. It gives Natrosol as hydroxyethylcellulose (which is available in a number of different grades, for example 25, 450, 8000 and 25000, the numbers indicating the average viscosity, in centipoises, of 2% solutions at 20 degrees). Natrosol itself (grade 250) was a trademark of a company called 'Hercules' but that may have changed now as my copy of the book is dated 1972.

When you test it, any chance of testing fully clothed, as well as skimpy? From the earlier comments, I'd like to know both how well it messes, and how easy it is to wash out, of a pair of trousers or jeans.

Though for some reason I'm seeing a great 80s scene with spandex leggings and a nice baggy t-shirt belted at the waist!

There will definitely be some element of clothing involved. Though I don't know what. Might work well with jeans.

I won't even see it till the weekend. All I can say is that it comes in fou8r colours (which is more than I do!) - lava blast red, blue lagoon, orange gloop and swamp green. And that each box only jellifies a depth of two inches so you need several!

I think what is required here is sencible scientific experimentation just like they do on Brainiac (do yo have yellow overalls Bill?)

Important Questions
do different colours give different BC (boobie Coverage)
can it be walked on (like custard)
can it be used as gunge (what is the omtimum hight for pouring)
Is it explosive? (always an important Brainiac question)

PS He's taller than Richard Hammond but about as safe in a car.

The sight of Hayley in nicely-fitted yellow overalls bathing in blue gloop would rock!

Damn, she hasn't got any yellow ones! Will have to look for some on Ebay!
