MessClub7 - Feedback

Postby MessClub » 16 Mar 2007, 05:08

I hope we have finally worked out to load pictures on here;

Image

When we go to the London and Newcastle meets we get asked about future sets. Hayley has the last "Bucket" set we did with Model Red and I think she will be loading them on the FreeHouse section soon.

We also get asked if we left a video running in the background etc and people ask can they have a copy of the the footage if it exists.

For the Tiffany and Red sets we didn't have a video running but if we did it would be a record of the shoot not a professionally produced video. If we ever did a video that would be the primary function of the shoot then the stills would be secondary. Sorry but its either stills or video as one disrupts the other if done at the same time in our opinion. The intention of the stills sets was sort of a tribute to the pictures that we saw in the Splosh Magazines but with our own MessClub7 concepts and production techniques. Sort of mainstream photography applied to sploshing if that makes any sense.

As we do this for a hobby rather than financial gain we wondered is there still a demand to see our type of work? There are so many producers now knocking out material and covering most scenarios its not something we want to do if hardly anyone wants to see it. The modern demand seems to be for the thinner chemical slime and gunge rather than the old style real food gungings and many models (not all thankfully) seem to expect that's what a gunging now entails.

This post is therefore an attempt to see what UK wammers would like to see in the way of gungings. Is the MessClub7 style "Old Hat" now as has been mentioned to us in UMD chat or is there still demand for this type of UK Sploshing?

The reason we ask this is that we don't want to produce work that people don't want to see anymore so as this forum seems to be the home of UK Sploshing now it would be interesting to gauge interest. If we feel there is demand to see more work we may produce future sets but as we did these for a laugh rather than financial gain it would be nice to know that we would still have an audience.

Any feedback positive or negative is welcome.

i can only hope that you and others like you stay with 'tradition' and continue to bring pics of food gunging,
The use of slime and goo has it's place, (and we all know which places) but so has food.
Keep up the good work.

Demise of Uk Sploshing...

Not likely at the moment.

This forum is proof of it - the amount of activity which promotes the actual doing of it, and not the actual doing of it for profit, unlike the Uniform Michael Dudes.

Mess Club 7 - keep the pics coming - and to all amatuers

And long live "old skool" splosh!

I certainly think that you should carry on as people love the sets we have had in the Free House and will love the Red one (as soon as our techie guy puts the thing up!). We get a lot of praise for them.

Yes, there are certainly factions that only go for "gunge" or pies and in the US (and consequently on UMD) there are certain people who are now specific in only liking those things. However there is a very definite demand for food based scenes, and scenes done with care and precision rather than a girl plonked in a gunge tank or pied repeatedly for no reason. Okay there is a lot of this stuff about cos it's easy to do, but it is also easy to forget. The more time taken in getting it right tends to lead to it lasting longer in people's minds and being looked at more and more. People go back again and again to the Bucket sets on Free House.

We hope when we get our downloads up that we will be concentrating (in the main) on good quality, funny films and photo sets (along with a few cheap, cheerful ones) in a VARIETY of styles - and as we have said lots of times we would very much like MessClub7 to be a part of that. So there is a future here if nothing else.

The UK style is only "old hat" (isn't the phrase old hat a bit old hat?) because the others have had it their way for so long. Our style will return and it will be popular cos it always has been.

What bores me with the wam scene is the mostly American scenairo of green slime and pies to the face routine. pies then the slime, I don't know. I must have seen that countless times, and every time it annoys me.

I suppose it's how we got in the fetish in the first place. For the yanks, it was YCDOTV, for us, it was Tiswas, end of the pier slapstick, or gunge tanks on the telly- so its not a one size fits all.

a major fan of uk style and scene jonny, yet you still give it the americanised acronym as opposed to its original moniker ;)

I agree with everyone else. I really love this style of over the head, and over the top ! real food style sploshing carrying on the SPLOSH! magazine tradition. I also love the models you use - and can't wait to see the pics of Red.

Keep up the good work - I'm sure loads of people love it.

I think the Messclub 7 stuff is superb, you seem to be doubting your own abilities. The sets are superb. You can do vid and stills together although its bloody tricky at times. I know I am going to attempt it again tomorrow.

You could incorparte more stuff if you felt like it. Thats one of the things we try to do. We dont just use one item. We use the lot!!! sometimes all at once.

Did we meet at the last meet in London, where you the person that Easy introduced me too in the Champion (good larger Easy!!)

Got to go now to mix Natrasol, for Disastermind.

Personally I am very fond of sets or vids which have a storyline - like the GSH ones. Even a very tenuous one will do to give a reason for starting the sploshing; after that the process can continue to escalate logically, or if two (or more) people are involved, can proceed on a tit-for-tat basis. Real food (even real custard pies  ) is definately preferable to slime or shaving cream pies, although the latter do have their place (in Gilly's case I won't mention the place  )

There is definately interest in 'old school' messy sets! I absolutely love all the sets you'd produce and would love to see video of the sets even if it was only the 'sat at the back of the shoot kind' the wonderful coverage of the girl in your tag image is great, but it would be even better to see that mess rolling down her face!

See my previous topic on mess club 7 (covering mess, and video / stills) here:-

Please produce more sets! :D

It really pisses me off that people can be so bloody ungrateful and just so plain rude. My personal opinion is that I much much prefer this sort of WAM to stuff where there is some dis-interested model being lightly gunged with some weak goo, but each to their own I'm not going to tell someone its rubbish/"old hat" etc. Rant over!

I especially appreciate it when it is someone who obviously is into it and even more so when people are doing it out of their own pocket for no financial gain. Maybe some of the people who moan should look at their own contributions to the community before posting.

As it happens the "whats in the bucket" sets were some of the best posts I've ever seen. Please keep up the great work and I for one would love to see more similar in the future.

The chatter on UMD quite liked the picture sets so I think the "Old Hat" comment was rather like someone saying mud wrestling is very "80's" so hope its not taken out of context as the whole conversation wasn't rude but we had to take the critisism of being a bit dated on board. Like people say there are different strokes for different folks and even if it is retro wam we still like doing it. Benny Hill was very popular then he became out of vogue with the powers that be yet remains a legend to this day. Guess we don't want to out stay our welcome or be known to just churn out stuff for the sake of it. We also don't want to rely on tried and tested too much. We sort of did with the Red Bucket shoot while changing the angle with the model guessing rather than she cops it once the contents are guessed by the audience. Who knows there may be one more bucket set to come especially now we have a dozen or so.

Its interesting to note that some of the pictures from the original Tiffany set were posted by someone on a phoitographic website. It looks like they were taking credit too as there is no linkback to Splosh where they have been donated to.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/smarmed/page2/

Someone else then credits Smarmed from another site, again no credit to Splosh, Doh!!!

http://still-life.fuxoft.cz/2006_01_15_archive.html

What is interesting though are the the comments from people not into the scene. Wonder if we got any converts

We were not doubting our abilities as far as previous sets were concerned just wondered where we went from here and debating between ourselves about future sets. We are meeting up in a week or so, so the feedback is cool. I think there may be one more stills set or two in the bag before we go down the video route but thanks for the link on the other thread about stills vs video.

We do like pies too but with restricted space it was easier to do the gungings but we will try and take this on board. For the pie fans we have attached the pics of Red getting a flan so hope that helps.

Thanks to Hayley for inviting us to post as "The Mess Club Seven" on here the first attempt failed as we couldn't get on once we registered MessClub7 so we got it working as MessClubSeven just in case the Mods wonder why there are 2 I'd's feel free to delete the MessClub7 one as we couldn't log in under it. What is cool is we worked out to load pictures and keep the order correct which became difficult on UMD. We had to previously send pics to Hayley to post on here but we can now do it :D

Thanks again for the feedback.
