Roget's Messaurus

Elouise (left) and Mandy (right) came over today to take part in our new game at Wamdrogony, "Roget's Messaurus", a quickfire word association game not unlike Mallett's Mallet but without the unfunny prat with a foam hammer. Here's me (centre) giving them a glimpse of the super dooper stella star prize that they'll both be competing for.

Elouise's game got off to a rocky start;

Mandy, on the other hand, made some delightful noises as the contest unfolded.

Particularly when this happened;

Elousie continued to stink at word association, so began to stink more literally too.
Image

Mandy got her share of the gunge too, though.

Come the judging, we thought it only fair to declare the contest a draw, so they shared the super duper stella star prize between them;

After they'd gone to clean off, of course I couldn't allow all the lovely leftover slop (not to mention the lake on the floor) to go to waste;

From the handbook of the International Association Of Made-up Sports;

The Official Rules Of Roget's Messaurus (a brainy game)

The game of Roget's Messaurus is contested between two or more players on a playing area known as a "space", with an official adjudicator stood between them, who shall have quick access to a table containing all manner of pies, gunge and messy stuff. An additional adjudicator may also be employed at the touchline to supply words and throw in more gunge. Also prepared in advance is the Super Dooper Stella Star Prize, a mega gunge bucket filled to the top with soup, beans, paint, slime, foam, oatmeal and anything else available at the time. This is then placed to one side.

Both players sit on stools facing each other, ready for battle, and the adjudicator suggests an opening word. Each player in turn must then supply quickfire word association without pausing/hesitating, repeating a word already used in that round or deviating (saying a word that has naff all to do with the previous one). Any of these infractions will be immediately punished with gunge. Play then begins again with a new word.

The winner is declared as the player who remains the cleanest at the end of play, which can be after a set number of rounds, a set period of time, when the gunge runs out or just when everyone concerned has had enough. The victor is immediately rewarded with the Super Duper Stella Star Prize, which is emptied completely over their head.

The great thing about this game is it's quickfire so there's never the feeling of waiting too long for the next gunging and the Super Duper Stella Star Prize means the cleanest player will end up the messiest. It can be theoretically played with any number of people, so in the right gathering we could quite happily line up five or six contestants and go along the line.

We'll be posting up some video of this once I've had a chance to edit it down a bit.

"the unfunny prat with a foam hammer"

Do not diss the Mallett Man. He ith eine legendo.

Top pics, maybe oneday I'll take a trip up to Andy's Pad.

I'll make that one day, today, but I have to get rid of this hideous bath, hold a monkey in a zoo, and open a shoe shop to rival one of Imelda Marcos's smaller stores!

(People who don't watch daytime tv, will not understand the gag)

I'm still recovering from yesterday, what a blast, Lou and Mandy are stars in the waiting. I hope Miss Helen can do the vid justice, cos the un-cut version is completely funny, police sirens!! and all.

Lou was well up for it, Mandy was having her first go and the both really got into letting themselves go in front of the camera. I spent most of the day Giggling. Miss Helen was on form as per usual. I just about managed to take some decent photos for a change.

The full set should be up at www.wamdrogony.co.uk soon.

I will put some highlights on once, I've lowered the size of the pics.

regards

Andy

Messaurus sounds a top game. should definitely be on Challenge TV - or for five hours late at night on ITV 1. Perhaps there's future selling messy game show formats to TV companies. Hmmmm...

Now that looks like serious fun!

Will have to have a go - perhaps I can rope some of the ladies into being adjudicators or touch-line gunge-throwers, I'm sure they'd jump at the chance to get some of their own back! :D
