Has anyone seen the TV ad for a dating agency, with the couple in a restaurant licking cream off each others' faces?

There have been some good messy ads in years gone by. The housewife deluged in chocolate, the lemon merringue pie fight, the bitch tipping spgahetti bolognese over the boyfriend....go on, let's be having your messy TV ad memories!

well since you asked, Hayley here are some memories from comercials
that I saw growing up.

Well growing up, I remember seeing a comercial for Green slime
shampoo. It was a product connected to a well known kid's show
called You Can't Do that on Television. In sketches on the show
when ever someone would say the magic words "I don't know"
green slime would fall on top of them. Well in the ad, two kids,
a boy and a girl are watching televison when a voice asks the kid
"Hey whats better than watching people getting slimed on tv?" to
which the kids say together, "I don't know". both are covered in
slime. I remember the girl had long hair that gets covered in it.

Another one would be for an add for a contest contected to the
kids gameshow. Double Dare. The winners would get to compete
in the double dare obstical course for real prizes. Again it features a boy
and girl watching the show on tv. The kids cloths then change magicaly
into the uniforms that contastants would wear. As the comercail goes
on it. First the girl gets covered in cream and the boy in slime. then
feathers fall over both of them.

More recently I saw a very nice comercail for Axe body wash.
In it, a guy and girl start to kiss and embrace then roll down a hill.
As they roll down the hill, all the while still kissing, they roll over a picnic.
Which had several pies and cakes out. No real good coverage to say. But
they do then roll over the oily floor of a garage which was pretty good.
They then roll into a tomato garden. They crush several tomatos as they enter. They then run into another woman who was picking tomatos. Like ever guys dream, She starts to kiss the guy and she like them gets covered in bits of tomatos and dirt. She stops rolling when her dress gets caught on a fence at the end of the garden as the other two continue to roll on. After they roll on to a road they cause a truck full of Axe Body wash to fall into the oeacn. The body wash gets into the water. They then roll into the soapy water and come out clean. And the woman is now in a bra or bikkini top. hard to tell. but still has her skirt on.

Not messy, but wet - there was an ad for "Shwartzkopf" shampoo where a long-haired model in a head to toe black outfit gets deluged with water from off-camera. The drenching was shown in some detail, you saw boyh her hair and clothes getting thoroughly soaked as the water cascaded over her, set to music. At the end the actual ad-line comes over, "Shwartzkopf - don't get it wet for anything else". I think I still have the ad, recorded in the middle of a James Bond movie (OHMSS, IIRC).

There was an ad for a magazine called "Nova" a few years back. It was several women having an egg fight.

This all goes to prove that if you want an advert to be memorable, make it messy! It's a pity that more advertising executives don't read this forum.

Not messy but I love the one for the funny shaped credit card where the woman goes to clean the glass door then falls through it 'cause it's open. I like it because she is so deadpan and simply falls flat on her face without apparently trying to break the fall.

I remember the Schwarzkov one very well as we had it on tape for a long time. It is in glorious slo motion which makes it better still. I can't remember how you spell the product but I do remember it was "Don't get wet for anything less".

The falling out of the window one for Mint is a great prat fall. Would love to teach myself how to do falls! I think good physical comedy (falling down bumping into things, being thrown around) is a big part of slapstick.

One classic set of adverts is the Chinzano series featuring Joan Collins and Leonard Rositer. I know that remembering that far back dates me(!) but the series ran for a very long time and they kept coming up with ever more invetive ways for Leonard to spill chinzano over Joan.

We featured it in Splosh! (pay attention!).

It was an ad for Cadbury listing all the ingredients of a new bar. Then it cuts to what appeared to be a washing powder ad with a housewife getting clothes out of the machine. Suddenl;y a huge torrent of chocolate falls on her, and the voice-over says, "Sorry we forget the chocolate."

Will dig out the still later.

Thanks Julie, eh that ad's going back a bit, Hayley is right it was in the mag, I think I actually saw it in the mag before the telly.
