Acording to the tivia section under "The Great Race" listing
on IMDB.com says that all the pies used in that scene were
real whip cream and fruit pies.

They had so many after finish filming that they let the extras
eat the rest. All 300 of them.

Anyways - on a lighter note - I would've given anything to have been a part of that pie fight. Sooo much fun!! Imagine how much was wasted though from them throwing and missing!!

I'm off to go and wrap some Christmas presents...

The pie fight in the Great Race is one of the greatest pie fights in the history of anything ever. I revisit it regularly when I feel like "flicking one of the wrist". My temperature goes through the roof when Natalie Wood takes her top off to reveal her undergarments halfway through.
