I had a few little things but I specifically remember a magazine article about a football team who had begun a sponsorship with a yoghurt company and as a result, some of the players got to douse this couple who were fans with said yoghurt - the female getting considerably more attention that the male. She was absolutely covered head to toe and was clearly enjoying it - a clear sign at the time that I wasn't the only one.

I also remember going to buy a copy of Time Out one week - simply because it was a kink edition and on the front cover it listed some of the topics including the two words; Splosh Parties. As soon as I saw those two words I knew I had to buy it. I felt like the vendor knew my reasons even though he no doubt sold 1000 copies a week and the magazine included other articles. I felt like I was being sussed out. As it happens, there was buggar all in the mag, no photos, no examples of where to find the parties, just a quick line acknowledging their existence. What a let down!!

My examples are probably about 15-20 years old... I still get that same 'people know' feeling whenever gunge or splosh things come up on TV.

Well I'm glad that resonated with someone. Your TimeOut story jogged my memory too. Oh I know that 'sussed out' feeling you describe. I wish I could remember the details of the mainstream magazines I bought because the cover suggested I might learn something about fetishes or see a still from a music video with someone all covered in paint or similar.
