Not sure that's a good idea; last I heard he didn't want a thread here. Candy has been in touch more recently though so he might have changed his mind.

That was true Richard but he is ok about it now it exists. I'm sure he would appreciate being able to read the good wishes. He is being transferred to a different hospital though for the op so I will await new details first xxxx

I watched the Dispatches episode on C4 tonight - all about the quality of hospital food! Made me think of you Mike - hope the food isn't too bad where you are :D

I haven't been able to get in contact since last time I spoke to him, I have texted a few times and called but the phone is off. I'm guessing he is still in ICU at the moment, will keep trying though

Haven't spoken to him myself yet but Mike is now apparently back on a normal ward, and still a bit sore but otherwise OK. I will call him soon

Will probably pop over and see him in the near future and see how he is.

Good to hear! Now, Candy, be careful. I am sure he shouldn't have too much excitement!

I had a phone chat with Mike yesterday evening; as far as I can understand, he is in a convalescence ward but still in the cardiac unit. He is perfectly lucid and looking forward to the Bristol splunch on 21st May :D ! I hope we can go ahead with it and perhaps take some of the burden of hosting the splunch off his hands.

Hi - I'm out of hospital, but not out of the woods yet.

I'm not ungrateful for the thread, I'm just not sure I'm worth the fuss, although I have to accept that you seem to think otherwise.

It would appear that I had three heart attacks at the end of January, including one a couple of days after being admitted to hospital. I've had a double coronary artery bypass, and I now face three to five months of convalescence and recuperation.

In the meantime, many thanks for all your kind thoughts and wishes, and I'll look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Bristol Splunch in late May.
