Holiday Circus!!
Another bank holiday looming and no sign of circuses or any slapstick entertainment. Sigh.
Thanks for keeping it alive here at least, Julie.

For all of us circus enthusiasts, here is a website dedicated to the great Charlie Cairoli and his family. It has biographical details as well as descriptions of several of his slosh routines.

I have no doubt that Philis and Julie already know of the site but it may be new to some.

Re: Holiday Circus!!
Great post Julie, have any video links to these circus shows?
ClownJulie wrote:Remember when there was a circus on telly every Xmas/New Year? I always used to wait wishing that there was female stooge in the clown acts - and sometimes there was. And they were nearly always dressed as a ballerina - so I've added some of me and Charlie at the end ... cos its Xmas.
And the wheelbarrow looks a fantastic prop - must try it one day!!
Sorry for the quality of some of the frame grabs used but the videos are ancient.
Hope you enjoy them ... and perhaps we can discuss them tonight on the forum!!

Re: Holiday Circus!!
Regardless of any slapstick element, and going slightly OT for a moment, can I encourage anyone to support the old-fashioned travelling circus if they can. They are great fun, for kids of all ages, great entertainment and above all one of the oldest theatrical traditions still going on....be sad if they are lost. (And the old worries of possible ill-treatment of animals have all been dealt with for some years now, certainly in the UK.)
Re: Holiday Circus!!
Since this thread has resurfaced, can I put in a mention for Clive Webb (ex-Tiswas) and his son Danny currently touring with Circus Hilarious - a theatre-based circus act with lots of slapstick.
Our seats are booked for his appearance in Hastings in February.

Dear Julie...
Can you tell the name of the show the second image is from? i believe it is from a german show....
i think it is the best featuring a sploshed ballerina as the ballerina is really cute and sexy...
regards....

Re: Holiday Circus!!
Did anyone notice the similarity between Charlie Cairoli and Robert Maxwell? I think it's something to do with the eyebrows.

Charlie Cairoli

Robert Maxwell
I wonder whether the two might be related. I think we should be told etc!

Re: Holiday Circus!!
I really miss the Easters when there was always a circus on the telly (usually either with Charlie Cairoli or Jacko Fossett).
Don't suppose we can combine a couple of threads and get Circus Hilarious to use Clown Julie as a female stooge in one of their messy routines for a one-off Bank Holiday special?
