Sin Cities - TV Show
I seem to remember an episode in the second series of Sin Cities when Ashley went along to see a pie in the face video being filmed. It was in America, but I forget which bit. Needless to say he joined in and got thoroughly messy and seemed to enjoy it too.
Look, if you're all going to throw pies around would you mind throwing them at me!!!

Your sister is right. He looked enough like Bill Gates to deserve a good pieing - not to mention freezing in our studio in January!
The Happy Hernia doesn't have a name yet though when I thought it was moe serious it was known (to me) as Tubby the Tumour!

Without being a bit pedantic and to complete take it out of context, I loved the typo and thought, there, there is the name . . . .
. . . . Moe !
Or to give it's full glory, and zero alliteration, Morris Hernia !
Who ate all the pies ? What a waste of pie !

I think my dad used to drive a Morris Hernia... Bakelite brown paint job it had, and a plaid interior....

I lived in St Leonards for a few months while on a journalism course.
It was winter then and it was FREEZING.
I did like the pubs though.
Wish I had known it was splosh central when I lived there.

Damn damn damn.
I could have come and done a feature all about Splosh. That was my part of the town to cover. It would have been an especially good idea since I've seen what has happened to other reporters and writers who've visited you.
I do remember that pub I think, although it was 10 years ago. I got in trouble in one of the pubs cos I left a fag packet with a dodgy cigarette inside on a table. Next time I went in, the landlord told me to take my belongings with me when I leave in future.
I lived on Cloudsley road and the course was at Marine Court (I think that was its name). I remember virtually sliding to work down the hill in the snow and ice.

I reckon the dodgy cigarette incident would have been the Horse and Groom. The landlord, Dave, who has been there for a lot more than 10 years is like that. Marine Court is the big block of flats shaped like a ship on the seafront. Didn't know they gave lectures there but wouldn't be surprised it has a lot of function rooms etc from its days as a hotel.
We were quite knew to St Lens 10 years ago but I remember that winter. It was freezing. It's not normally that bad - though last year was close!

AS YOU WERE, EVERYONE!
Just heard from Anna at Shine that the producers have dropped the idea of doing sploshing for Sin Cities as it is 'too similar' to other items they have done in the past. So, sorry, no big TV breaks for any of us - including the hernia.
Telling Dolly will be the toughest bit!

The big ship based building was definitely where the course was held. It was in a place called The Editorial Centre on the first floor. There was a huge bar next door that I grew to love. I think it was called Cherry's.
I can't remember the names of the other pubs I liked but two spring to mind. If you walk from Marine court towards the town centre you get to a road going uphill with some traffic lights at the junction. There was a pub on the left of that main road a little way up. Also there was a bar down towards the white rock theatre on the front that was quite cool.
Hastings itself had some fun places to go. I remember a huge sports bar and of course, I remember The Crypt.
