I still bought Fiesta and Razzle afterwards but Splosh was the real deal!

Ah yes! Stuffing and then taking all those brown envelopes to the post office in the car Not to mention the sackfuls of mail outs. What a joy!!

Actually it was fun at the time cos we knew we were doing something nobody else had done and it was building up a whole new kind of fetish.

Amused at the UMD thread on the "Future of WAM" just how much corporate crap some of the producers are talking. We never saw it like that. Bill just wanted to produce something funny and sexy and I was delighted to be involved.

Anyhooo...

Bill wouldn't have written it in 1982. He was too busy working on Mayfair, and I hadn't met him then. In fact, I was 18, married and pregnant but that's another story....

Care to share?

Actually that reminds me... one of my first exposures to "WAM" was in a readers wives bit of one of either fiesta or razzle I think. The magazine got a bit worse for wear  but before I chucked it I scanned a couple of the pics from it. From what I remember the letter was about how a couple had borrowed a friends farm and had amongst other things covered the girl in yoghurt. See pics :)

Hello

Hayley seems to have answered most of the 'history' questions but in 1982 I had just joined Mayfair as a staff member so no freelancing then. In those days Fiesta and Mayfair were among the country's top 20 best selling mags!

The riding girl appeared as a single shot in Splosh! not as a set. I think she must have been in Escort. I never worked for them though I knew the people who did very well. By 1990 I was writing most of Razzle so I remember most things from then until 1996 when I left (somewhat unceremoniously but as it turned out wisely as all those magazines have died on their arse since then!).

Ravers was David Sullivan's attempt to imitate Razzle (a Paul Raymond mag) which was selling ridiculously well at the time (around 100,000 copies a month - all down to me, of course!!). If it did messy stuff this was cos they knew about the rise of Splosh! and wanted to outdo Razzle.

That's it for now! More porn-from-days-gone-by later.

Bill

PS The current Splosh! logo was done by a young girl who was Razzle's designer when I was there!
