No, ITV don't deny (or even confirm) the sexual element. There's been little comment on the matter, in fact, most of the things we discuss are getting hold of footage and people. Relax! I'm not anti-WAM!

Legs and co getting gunged and looking very messy etc. This did nothing for the male and bi population who like wet and messy then?????? I'm sure people tuned in purely for the cartoons and adverts!!!!!!!

I watched it as a kid and just found it funny whenever anyone got messy, that's primarily what they were doing, though of course, there's something appealing about a good-looking girl getting drenched in muck, that's undeniable. It's also funny too, because of the contrast, which is what comedy is all about!

I thought they would nock people back due to the nature of the sites. They only have to look and see semi nudity and thats it time for a Mary Whitehouse moment. Anyway hey ho was to be expected.

Well, Tiswas wasn't for prudes, but there are limits.

NO! Definitely not, I didn't say that. In fact, yours was a good application, it struck the right note with me. I've no idea how it went down with ITV, as I'm not part of the judging process, merely the 'messenger boy'.

Im a slapstick comedy performer, in no way should this affect my application. Do ITV really think i'll try and hump everyone in the cage purely cos some mess is thrown at me.

I'm a performance artist, as well as a higher level drama student and a lover of kids TV.

Good to hear it. Kids' TV is sadly an endangered species these days. I'd love to write for it and devise ideas. I've managed to perform a live comedy musical routine with the rest of the TiswasOnline gang when we appeared on Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow. I absolutely loved doing that.

I'm into comedy - in a BIG way - from Harold Lloyd to Bill Hicks, and just about everything in between. I'm a comedy nerd, having watched every Carry On film in order, obtained every Monty Python show, etc. So custard pies are obviously things I've encountered before.

I'm well up for it, I'm not a "model" here, i'm an enthusiast.

Nice! In my experience, a lot of girls on WAM forums tend to be models. Good to see someone appreciate slapstick comedy (which is just more than pies and gunge IMHO - there's a lot to be said for a well-timed pratfall).

I'm actually also genuinely upset that I wouldnt get through on the basis of being interested in Splosh.

That's not the case. As far as I know, they're after a mix of men and women, and thus, you are 'gold dust'.

The only person I know for definite who is NOT going in the Cage is myself. (I did try, but was disqualified!)

ITV don't even know about the existence of this forum. I only came across it after I googled on "Tiswas Reunited" and checked pages linking to us. I read Decadant Doll and Helen's applications and didn't know they were here until I saw this thread. I've no problem with it.

I'm not allowed to cut-and-paste the applications we've had, but a minority of people have been really unsubtle about their WAM interests. If you saw what they wrote, you could see that how a mainstream broadcaster wouldn't want them on the show. Think of it from a non-WAMmer's point of view.

Aside from having Creamy Muck Muck over my face at the Beeb, a pied face at a charity fun day and the odd soaking here and there, I'm pretty much a 'WAMateur', if you'll forgive the terrible pun. I'll declare my outside interest in WAM as "fascinated" rather than an ardent practicer.

...I agree with you about Kids TV, it's sad that it's going down the tubes a bit, i loved the likes of Fun House when I was younger, and just looking at old tapes of Tiswas I feel I was born out of time. I'd have had a ball on kids tv then.

Here's hoping theres a chance of it picking up, I'd certainly love to be a part of kids tv in my future.

My guess is that most of the people applying from the Tiswas online site will be blokes. Hopefully the shows producers will try and balance things out and get some ladies in there as well, so I think she has a good chance (thats even before they discover her fantastic personality!)

We were getting a lot of male applications, but I helped bring a vague balance by notifying some of my female online (and real-life) friends about it.

We're not asking for fetishists, although I guess it was inevitable that two popular WAM forums linked to the page. The main thing is to celebrate Tiswas for what it was, anarchic comedy that had messiness as its trademark, not as a show staple.

Ok, i think we had better clear a few things up before it just seems I am going on a rant for no reason what so ever.

Firstly I did send an application into the site. Not asking to go in the cage, I actually listed what people had been upto since the sad demise of Tiswas. These included giving a big upto splosh (without who's support over the years I would never have been able to the Dj shows live!!! and the armed forces stuff. Wich I wont go on about but as Bill knows from a previous discussion I feel very strongly about the lads and lasses who serve. I also have a big upto Wamdrogony as I am assoicated with that site. I also have Dolly a big up if my memory serves me right.

As for being a Tiswas fan, I have all three vids, I use theme tune when doing live events in clubs/ forces. We have our own Phantom!!! and missus phantom now!! I also have a lot of parody's from the Compost corner sketches, to wich cannot help but laugh everytime I watch them

Hold on, I have no influence over who goes into the Cage and who does not go into the Cage. It's certainly no private party - that page is open for anyone between 18 and 50 to apply, and ITV judge it, NOT ME.

Whether you're a WAMmer or not, it's not about 'punishment', but about common sense. It's a comedy show that happens to have mess in it, not a mess show that happens to have comedy in it.

If, say, you had a fetish about cucumbers, would you mention that in a job interview to be a greengrocer, or would you keep it quiet?

I'm not sure why you felt the need to pass on a link of pied transvestites though. Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against that scene, but you don't seriously think Tiswas Reunited will want to acknowledge it in the programme?

He's a top bloke, I've met him a few times. He likes my sense of humour. Big fan of Tiswas!

Alas, I didn't get muck-mucked on the show, but after it aired. We did the Strangely Talented slot on the show doing a completely Tiswas-inspired re-enactment of 'Bright Eyes' (with the now 31-year-old Matthew Butler as the star), all dressed in bunny suits.

Later on, we went back into the studio as soon as the show was over, past the crying kids (one girl got custard in her eye), and got a guided tour of all the rooms in the set. I remember my trainers sticking to the (real) grass in the garden because of the splashes of Muck Muck everywhere.

I scraped some off the wall of the 'living room' and smeared it over my face, just to complete the Saturday morning experience! Never got to go on Tiswas as a child, so this was the closest I was gonna get...

Oh, there's some good news about Tiswas Reunited for EVERYONE. It'll be announced either tomorrow evening or early next week. I'm remaining tight-lipped until then otherwise it won't happen.

And proper actual shaving foam pies made to the original 'recipe' are going to be used on the show.

Feel free to share any anecdotes about slapstick-related shows you have had any involvement with on our forum, I know I for one would be interested.

I agree entirely with your early statement about the demise of kids TV. ITV have now given up entirely apart from their CITV channel and this time two years ago when people were arguing (on another forum cos this one didn't exist then) over whether Holly getting caked on Ministry of Mayhem was better than Dick and Dom muck-mucking Fearne Cotton seem a lifetime away from the choice of two (more) cookery shows.

I liked Saturday morning TV. As a grown up it gave me a chance to see bands I'd never have heard of otherwise, watch adverts for ridiculous toys and appalling snack food, hear 'cool' phrases and find out what is meant to be fashionable as well as enjoying any messy comedy element. Oh and there were often great cartoons (especially on Tiswas, of course).

Saturday morning television rocked. I wonder how long before some satellite station comes up with the "brilliant, new" idea of linking all the cartoons on a morning with some comedy, news, etc from a studio like they did 30 or so years ago at ATV Centre?
