Viewing, posting and replying to posts - possible changes!!

Postby Hayley » 19 Jun 2006, 23:12

Hi

Cos we have started to get spammed by boring gits like online casinos, porn sites, drug companies and so on, I am thinking of changing the way the forum is run.

What I am considering is making it compulsory to register if you want to post or reply to threads on the forum. It will still be possible to view threads as a guest (ie without registering) but you will need to register to reply or post.

Does anyone have any objection to that?

It is always the same that some muppets out there want to spoil things for everyone else! Registering is a good idea when posting and will also stop everyone doing a "Dolly". Shame as they can be quite funny!

I think the only ones who'll object are the spammers--and you don't count!

I think a compulsory registration system would be a very good idea.

Why should anyone need to remain annonymous when posting a message other than to effectively say something behind others back.

If they can't say it to our faces then don't let them say it at all.

I know I didn't leave it very long but I have had to make it compulsory to register if you want to post or reply to a post. This morning there were too many spammers to leave it any longer.

You can still view everything as a guest.

Now all I have to do (hopefully) is keep my eye on suspicious-looking people who register.

Thanks for your support, guys.

Hayley

PS I'm sure 'doing a dolly' can be applied to something else...whilst 'doing a Hayley' means shutting everyone out of the forum accidentally!
