Yep thats how it started.

Well, it started with working fine - i could send and receive pictures just fine.

Then it started giving me a little "download button on receipt and also telling me I couldnt send any

Then randomly I get nothing but it suddenly appears in my emails - I didnt even know how they were linked!

The rest sounded a bit technical for me, sorry - I will give it a reread when feeling more awake lol - im def the techno noob here!

When it comes to noobiness I am the king!! Tend towards the Flanman response myself. Incidentally there are lots of models etc on Twitter but be warned they only tweet to tell you to watch their stuff and can be quite prolific.

Haha, I feel like Im in good company here then, cheers Bill!

Yes I didnt follow any models or similar before but now that I have a private list set up of which you are currently King (and only entry but will gloss over that lol) - I can happily add a few more and only dip in and look when I want to - they wont interrupt my main twitter feed.

Yes also re Flanman's response but an interesting discussion and i for one have learnt something thanks to Driver so its all good by me :D

Incidentally what happens if I follow you or driversoft? Does that bugger everything up for you, privacywise?

If anyone looks at our profile they will be able to see that you are following us but thats not a problem (for me anyway) - I have a few weird and wonderful followers so you won't look out of place!

Indeed I will probably openly follow you again tbh - I only put you in private to see how it works!

Okay, not that anyone is interested but at present these are the social media you can find me/Splosh! on, should you want to follow me or whatever.

The main one is www.facebook.com/bill.shipton . This reflects my whole life ie sploshing, the pub, crap telly, milk floats (ok, that was something that came up recently!), nostalgia or anything that comes to mind. The 'friends' on it are people I either see regularly, have met at munches and splunches, old chums from the past etc. Be warned any posts are as likely to be about game show catchphrases as custard pies!

As a result, I thought I'd set up a product page specifically about Splosh! and sploshing at www.facebook.com/splosh.co.uk . The idea was to build up a bit of following but as this thread has revealed that may not be as easy as originally intended. However for those brave enough there are a lot of messy fans on Facebook who are out and open about it, usually under pseudonyms. If you are happy to do this then both the Splosh! and Bill Shipton pages are worth befriending.

Over on Twitter where you can keep the people you follow private (see previous posts on this thread) at present I just have www.twitter.com/bill_shipton. I haven't really developed this yet so it is just an addition to Fb BUT if it is a case that people prefer Twitter to Fb for privacy reasons then I will do more. Whether long term that will be under @bill_shipton or a Splosh! address depends on which people would prefer. The former looks more innocent, but, like Facebook, I reserve the right to occasionally tweet thoughts that have very little to do with custard!

Finally for those who just want messy pictures on a non-fetish site, then go to www.flickr.com/photos/splosh_co_uk. Plenty there from both recent films and the archives and unlike Facebook it allows naughtier photos. Just remember to set your settings to allow you to look at them.

That's how it stands at present...all ideas, advice welcomed.

Thanks for the details Bill - and no, like bonesiii, I've no problem with being followed by anyone on Twitter, especially your good self. I'd also appreciate your occasional random musings on life, the universe and everything - but I'm afraid I can't make any knowledgeable contributions regarding the history of public transport!

It wasn't that long ago that I'd punch someone in the face when they pissed me off; now I just delete them from Facebook - that'll show the mother-fuckers...

Anyway, meant to say thanks for that Bill - hopefully the discussion helped a little - and WOW at the amazing pics on the Flickr thingamajig - spent a while happily browsing those earlier, cheers!

Hmmm - Facebook's reaching scary territory - It's hoping to become the Google of the world of personal data with "Graph Search" - a facility that offers intelligent Google-like data-mining searches of its huge database. Big Brother is here, and this time he really does know about you! It's slightly ironic however, that the search examples they hype on their site - such as "friends who work for company xxxx and who like eighties music" etc are nothing but an admission that Facebook has redefined the word 'friend' to mean someone you know very little about!

Yeh I found that all quite concerning too - I can only see that it will lead to more fake accounts with people hiding behind personas much like most do on boards like this.

The really worrying thing of course is if you try to delete or shut down your existing account, you actually can't - all that information of yours is on there forever as its "their property"...

B8st*rds!!
