Re: wallpaper paste as gunge?
It is probably harmful, especially if coming into contact with eyes and swallowed, but has got great consistency dependant on how you mix it, you can have it as runny or as thick as you want, I have used it, and a bit of poster paint or food colouring in the mix makes it look great when your covered in it.
I suppose it won't be that harmful if you plan on filling your wellies up with it.

I have used it quite a lot ,mixed up so it,s smooth and with a bit of emulsion paint it feels great down cleavage or knickers although clothes will need a couple of washes to get the stuff completely out. Also mixing it with a large amount of shaving foam makes a reat gunge which can be coloured with food colouring.
I wam what i wam.

I have used wallpaper paste many times but you need to be careful which ingredients are in it. The anti-fungal one has a very harsh mould inhibitor chemical added which can make skin burn
Get the right one and the feeling is lovely and just right for the paddling pool or buckets over the head - try not to swallow it though cos it tastes awful!

Re: wallpaper paste as gunge?
Wallpaper paste these days usually contains fungicide which is not good to swallow and according to the packet should be kept away from eyes (but then so should most of what we use!). I doubt that unless you eat a lot of it or hold your eyes open whilst dunking your head in it too much harm will come to you, but don't quote me in your Claims Direct case.

I always use it and have never had any problems. It's cheap and you can get so messy with it. Great fun!
I want to get messy and muddy

Ha Ha. It would be incredible if someone did as you've issued repeated warnings about it for years:
e.g. a Bizarre Magazine article in 1997 which first established Splosh! for me as more than just a rumour: '[Bill Shipton suggests Sploshers avoid wallpaper paste] "now that it has fungicide in it" and to crack eggs first before smashing them over someone's head, "they're harder than you think!"'

Re: wallpaper paste as gunge?
I must admit as I typed it I thought "how many times have a said this and for how long?" Well, now I know. Well actually it is certainly earlier than 1997 cos I encountered the problem when we made the decorating scene in Sammy Jane on the Job in 1992. Wallpaper paste had been the "gunge of choice" for many years (pre-Natrasol). It was VERY cheap, easy to get hold of and washed off without difficulty. Great consistency too. Would be nice to see it make a comeback!

Re: wallpaper paste as gunge?
i use it all the time(as seen in some of my pictures) its pretty cheap, easily mixed and if you get it non lumpy, washes off very well.depending what colouring agent you use,it doesnt smell so you dont have to scrub yourself sensless to get rid of any smells!
Re: wallpaper paste as gunge?
Don,t mix in flour with wallpaper paste i found it to go lumpy and smells terrible, but you can keep it for quite a few days with just a bit more water added so it does go a long way. In a rare moment of inspiration i actually stuck paper to the wall with the stuff, amazing but true.
I wam what i wam.

Surprised that no-one has mentioned this fairly recent posting:
