I wish I had! Mind you, I remember watching Hardwicke pulling Flying Scotsman (and it really was pulling on the drawbar!) for the S&C centenery in '76, though at Hellifield rather than Ribblehead. Ah - happy memories of riding the Thames-Clyde expresses in the guard's compartment due to there being no seats in a 14-coach rake of mark 2s behind a Peak! Happy Days!

As I hope is obvious, all forms of prejudice including insulting women is definitely not welcome on this forum.

I wasn't insulting women in general just the women who mess people around on dating sites. Sadly I have fallen victim to a couple of hoaxers on dating sites over the years who pretend they are interested in you when they are really not and arange fake meetings and don't turn up etc.

I always thought the combination of the two-tone green class 47s with the maroon mark 1s was very pleasing, though probably a bugger to keep clean as both the dark green and the maroon tend to go dull when exposed to UV.

I have to agree about the Mark 1s, particularly w.r.t having opening windows just large enough to stick your head out with a camera (without being able to go so far as to be decapitated) and, especially, for the lovely sound of slam door stock being readied to depart a station - very evocative is that!
