I think that rather depends on how you define 'fetish'. I don't regard myself as a fetishist and, in fact, find fetish parties rather over-the-top BUT I do love lots of things that are fetististic. Whether it's getting messy, dressing in rubber, uniforms, a bit of bondage or spanking, I would never say they were my fetish, purely things I enjoy now and again. I am sure most of the women I know (in the UK at least) would say the same. They have plenty of 'kinky' pleasures but none are essential to their love lives - just very enjoyable add-ons. So, statistically we would not count as fetistists, yet we thoroughly enjoy all the same things. Oh and BTW, I don't indulge in fetishes for the benefit of men! I'm far too selfish! I do them for me in the way I like, which may not suit others but definitely works for me.
Sorry if I haven't explained this very well. It's the 2nd time I've written it cos Telephonica crashed as I was posting the first and this version isn't half as erudite!

I believe Sploshing is by definition a fetish, as the dictionary indicates a fetish to be a sexual image or imagery derived from ordinarily non sexual obects - there is no requirement that it be essential to a lovelife, merely that it exists at all.
It wasn't that long ago that I'd punch someone in the face when they pissed me off; now I just delete them from Facebook - that'll show the mother-fuckers...

I agree that the definition of 'fetish' is important, and subjective. I used it, and I'm sure that Chris used it in the context of a kink or preference, rather than a necessity. I can't remember the origin of the saying, but I remember reading or hearing that 'A kinky person may occasionally use a feather - a pervert always needs the whole chicken'. So I believe ours to be a (or one of a number of) pleasurable and occasional preference(s), rather than a 'must-have'. It was even this level of involvement that many of the women denied; please remember that these were the attitudes of thirty-odd years ago rather than today, and that you and many of your women friends could be in the (then) 2% that accepted their nature and preferences.

Aren't you lucky to have someone who shares your preferences, or is prepared to indulge in them with you for your mutual benefit.
It's because people aren't prepared to indulge their partner's whims (or to be honest about their own) for the potentially greater enjoyment of both parties that we have so many secretive, unfulfilled or lonely Sploshers on this forum, and I don't doubt a great deal more outside of it.

Then perhaps we are all more fetishist than we orginally thought?
I personally view it as a kink, rather than a fetish, but thats probably personal.

I think that kink, i.e. eccentricity, is an excellent definition rather than 'fetish' which is defined as "an object of irrational reverence".
You see what I mean about the definition of 'fetish' being subjective.

For anyone to suggest that 98% of men are perverts, incapable of 'functioning' without the incorporation of their kink/fetish is stretching the truth a little more than somewhat.
I believe that kink or preference fits the bill admirably for the most part, unless we have any true fetishists on this forum who want to take issue with that.

I would have thought that a "fetish" was something which was obsessive, rather like an addiction which a person could not function without. My pocket dictionary says "anything irrationally reverenced; abnormal object of sexual desire".
So, for me, WAM is not a fetish, but rather something fun which appeals from time-to-time. I certainly don't think about it 24-hour-a-day, or even every day.
And if our Great Leader decided to tax it out of existance (don't laugh, he's well on the way with most other pleasures!
), I'd be well ****ed-off, but it wouldn't be the end of my world.

Come on folks....
I dunno what's all the fuss about having a fetish or not.
I went to the doctor last week and told him I had been dreaming about S&M and bestiality.
He told me I was flogging a dead horse.
I think sex is better than logic
but I can't prove it.

lol, that made me wince.
I agree, seems the most difference in opinion is over what exactly constitutes a fetish, personally I'm happy to call it a fetish, to go along with all the other fetishes I have... just things I like that other people might not be fussed about.
