as I've mentioned in other posts, by day I'm a web geek, with a penchant for 3D graphics.
Reading the latest issue of 3D world magazine I came across an article about Shrek 3. The article looks at a few new 3D techniques used in the film including (interestingly) how they made the scene with Shrek wallowing in a mud pit.
For those that haven't tried it, making a 3D compter model of complex things like mud (and water etc) is really difficult! Its easy to model things like buildings, vehicles etc as they are essentially based on simple shapes like boxes, spheres etc.
I read somewhere that one of the attractions of Sploshing is the inherent randomness of it all - a break from the typical ordered way of things in daily life. I guess it doesn't get more random than chucking a bucket of custard or (rice pudding, mud, soup etc) at someone... hmmmmm..... not sure what point I'm trying to make here (if at all) - just thought it the article was interesting... maybe I'm just too geeky for words...
ps. I like the quote on shrek1.jpg (click it for a larger version) - reminds me of Emma in Juicy Pairs with the classic "that's what we want" quote....!
pps I found the trailer for Shrek 3 on youtube which has a breif clip of the mud scene - I've not seen the film but looks quite fun.
I've attached some pics from the magazine and youtube
off topic (?) Shrek gets muddy
