Hi Josie

Oh the poor seal! I hope it is better now. I hate to think of amphibians being hurt in that way.

Grammatically correct - biologically incorrect, Hayley. Amphibians are cold-blooded and so belong to a different class of vertebrates to seals: which belong to Mammalia, order Carnivora, family Pinnipedia (Fin-feet). However, seals are - as you correctly say - amphibious and can live both on land and in water.

Sorry about that! Put it down to getting at DungeonMasterOne in another thread and my inate tendency to pedantry. Still, seals do have a connection with horns and circuses; which have a connection with clowns, which has a connection with slapstick; which has a connection with Julie; which has a connection with me feeling horny.

I can take it. 'pologies for being an anorak - or anything else people want to accuse me of being.

I only joined to have a bit of virtual fun with - what I hoped - were like-minded souls who think along rather different lines.

Happy to sign out if you wish.

Please don't go away Codger! Lots of us here have strange quirks and nobody really takes offence, it's all part of life's rich pattern. I enjoy your posts, being something of a pedant myself and I was amused by your erudite reply to Hayley's quick witted post. Deliberate misunderstanding of another person's statement for comedic purposes is, of course, a long established technique of repartee.

Really interesting read. I'm kind of split on this.

I love the humour and the comedy element of splosh but i also love the fantasy of submitting to a dominant woman. So with me the roles are reversed but its the same idea.

Don't get all hurt on me, Codger! It was only jokey anger! It is what I like about the forum that it takes weird and wonderful (and frequently informative) turns. I am not really upset at all. On the contrary, it was a fun reply to a fun reply. And I shall be happy to take 30 pies in the face for as punishment for not knowing the difference between amphibious and amphibian!

My fault!

Hayley was joking when I mentioned it on the phone not genuinely annoyed and we certainly don't want anyone to leave the forum (apart from spammers, of course). Besides, to leave over a crap seal joke would be silly (imagine explaining that to someone else). Personally I found your reply very entertaining.

I see Hayley has offered to be pied for upsetting you. Well, I think Josie should get pied too for daring to even mention ginger biscuits on our forum. I bet they were those rubbish Happy Shopper ones too
