Hi

Well, it's a lot of hard work for a start! And you won't be able to sell DVDs/videos only downloads (as selling the former is illegal in the UK unless you get them passed by the BBFC which costs a lot of money). You can sell downloads of films/photos but you need a credit card billing service for this. Don't use Paypal. They don't like adult businesses and the moment they find that you are running one they will steal your money. You can, of course, sell CDs of pics by mail order.

Of course you could just have a free site but then a Yahoo group would do just as well and is a lot simpler to set up.

I am not being a wet blanket deliberately. Just pointing out the difficulties.

Hiya Stu.

I am also not being a wet blanket here.

As you know i've been doing vid clips/photo sets and chatting with guys and girls on wet and messy fetish sites / splosh forum for a while now.

I could have made my own website by now. My reason for not having one is not because I don't feel I couldn't produce the material. I guess i just don't want to contribute to the over saturation of the "market", as it were.

Running your own site is essentially a business, and you would be taxed as such. You would also have the pressure of weekly updates/monthly updates.
There are around 80 paysites at present, and even the "solo girl" sites have to pay to hire models to join them in order to keep the material fresh. This can be costly with most of the girls wanting a *minimum* of £100.

Gungedlulubelle is amazing and could certainly earn a nice sum off the stuff she does, yet she still gives it away, which is awfully nice of her! (sorry for using you as an example LuLu!) She sells the odd bits and bobs here and there, and therefore i can see her still going strong a few years down the line, unlike the girl who decides she could make a nice living off it and invests in something that could likely fold, even if she is the most wondrous thing to come out of the messy closet (or should that be bucket?)

All the best of luck if you do decide to go through with it, but another way would be to get a few clips and pic sets out there with some nice ideas... join an already successful site. Lot less hassle, the messy fun is always *FUN* and doesn't become a job.

A lot of the sites fold in their first year. Look at the likes of Sweet Sophie (and man is she hot!)

I've rambled a lot, and am trying to just say what i feel. If you do decide to go for a paysite then good luck. DDC is a great lookin girl who loves her gunge :)

Much Love

DD

Good points from Hayley and DD.

While it is quite simple to set up a hosting account for a fairly reasonable cost, there may be hidden or unexpected costs such as additional payments if/when you exceed an allotted bandwidth.

If you want to do it for fun, then the Yahoo Group option would be a great idea for testing the water (was that a very bad pun?)

Other options could be setting up a blog (as it seems to be flavour of the month) and uploading videos to YouTube/MySpace/etc with albums of photos uploaded to a community forum such as WebShots.

A few more ideas for the melting pot

Have a look at this : It

http://www.pbase.com/pricing.html

You can also have a free trial account for 30 days, there are several photographers who do wam based material on here, the site does NOT however offer any video or clip facilities.

Forget Webshots they are becoming very heavily censored of late, pics i posted there of Mercedes earlier this year lasted 5 days and my experience with Yahoo groups isnt brilliant either.

Hope you dont mind me asking, but any advice and or tips really do depend on what you hope to do with the site.

As people have already mentioned there are many avenues that can be taken and each will require a different strategy, so do let us know.
Resistance is futile!

We looked at this for Wamdrogony, Miss Helen and Mandy, had good look at it, the main prob with a site if its pay per view or 6 months etc, you have to keep churning the vids and pics out, it can get quite boring after while. Due to the fact you have to keep producing.

We too had the nightmare of Dvd's thanks to Bill and Hayley, they showed the better way is pay for view downloads.

As for Yahoo groups Cheshire Gunge is not bad Dids, I post all my stuff on their, we so far have had no problems, fingers crossed??

regards
